Born and trained under Francisco Escudero in San Sebastian in 1968, Ramon Lazkano was profoundly influenced by Helmet Lachenmann. Laboratorio de tizas, a work of sculptor Jorge Oteiza, whom Lazkano rediscovered during a visit to this maestro's museum in Alzuza, Navarre, further inspired him to write a piece about the fragility of nature. This recording illustrates Escudero's masterful touch.
