Q: Is the gel heel noticeably more cushiony than the powerstep pinnacle maxx? worth twice the cost?

The Gel heal is not the only difference. The Protech Control foam is also a bit more dense. Both seem to provide the same stable arch support and helps stabilize my foot to prevent pronation. The gel heel pad in the Protech Control does provide a bit more heel comfort which helps relieve my heel pain from plantar fasciitis . If you have heel pain I would recommend the Protech Control. If you are just looking for a insole for arch support and help with foot motion control I would recommend the Pinnacle Maxx. My size is less than $7 more for the Protech Control and is worth the additional cost.

Q: Can a size 6-6.5 be cut down to a 5-5.5?

No. These are designed to perfectly match your shoe size. If you are 5-5.5, purchase that size, otherwise you compromise the integrity of the orthotic device.

Q: Will Protech Control Full length work with neutral (standard) arches?

We usually would not recommend Protech Control insoles for neutral arches. They have additional support built into the arch and heel compared to the regular Powerstep Protech, and typically work better for people with arches in need of more support and structure than neutral arches.
