Back for more
I bought one of these two years ago for my keychain. Not really expecting much, it's small and most crank/solar lights don't tend to last long. As you can imagine, cranks break, solar screens get scratched. But have to say, these little keychains are tough! The light is small, just the right size to fit on a keychain without being annoying or bulky. It is well made, yes it is plastic but it doesn't have the cheap feeling of bad plastic, it feels solid in your hand. I have had them on a keychain with several keys and it is still going like a champ. It has been dropped and played with by kids and adults alike, and not even started to show the age. The screen has not had any damage from being tossed in my purse or on the counter. The crank is simple and easy. The light it throws is low, but for the size it's good, and it certainly throws enough light so you can get into your car in the dark parking lot or house on the nights you forgot to leave the porch light on. And I find it suffices to walk by too even on cloudy nights. When I haven't cranked it for a while the light will be dim depending on whether it has sat out or in my purse, but it is quickly fixed with a couple quick turns, more if you want longer endurance. I am so impressed with these I ordered a couple more for gifts, as well as one for myself on my hubby's keys! Couldn't be happier with these, quite the bang for the buck, I've had much more expensive lights not last nearly as long or perform nearly as well.

Arrived on time exactly as described. Flashlight is nice. So really good except for the switch.
Arrived on time exactly as described.Flashlight is nice. It's the right size for a miniature. It performs well. The 3 LEDs are bright enough for a mini and offer good light in a single direction for several feet in a wide beam. For a low price (sort of) and small size it feels very solid and durable. It doesn't feel flimsy, loose, or "toy" like at all.The crank is firm and smooth and offers a good charge per minute cranked. The solar charge works very well. Left in a sunny area the flashlight remains charged and turns on any time. Had for several months. But can't vouch completely for the charge longevity on sun light yet because I haven't used it to complete discharge yet. While it's solid and feels durable I had to take off one star because it's slightly unreliable. One of the best features of this flashlight, an on/off switch, if very finicky. Poor quality control on the switch means that sometimes when you go to switch it on, the switch doesn't kick in. So no light. And it's just the switch. The charge is there because, if necessary, if you play with the switch long enough it will kick in and the light will turn on. But shouldn't have to fiddle with it so much. This was almost right out of the box. So most likely bad quality switch or a defect. It does still work. It's even gotten to be a little better over the last few months use. But it's still a hassle. Would be nice if it turned on the first time each time.So really good except for the switch.

Worth considering
Normally I consider solar/crank flashlights to be mostly a novelty because they don't provide much light for their size and weight to be worth carrying. This little walnut sized version comes in at 1 oz. or 25 grams (0.8 oz. or 22 grams without the keychain) so I decided to take a closer look. By closer I mean I removed the cover. Amazing they can put all the little gears and tiny generator and circuit board and mini solar panel and slide switch and LEDs together into such a small space and make it all work for $7. For the price of a venti latte this little lightweight flashlight is worth considering storing in your bag or backpack in the event you find yourself in the dark and forgot to bring a “real” flashlight. At around 10 lumens it's enough to light up the path so you're not tripping over rocks or tree roots on the trail to your car or campsite. Battery not charged... no problem... just wind the little handle and your in business. I'm going to store mine in a little poly bag to give it extra protection from water (both rain and the possibility of my pack becoming submerged).I would pay more for a ruggedized version that had metal gears and rubber gasket seals for waterproofing, but there's probably not enough of a market to justify the production expense. It is what it is and as long as I treat it with reasonable care it will likely be ready to serve as a backup light if the need ever arises.

Night Nurse favorite
Super bright light (I thought twice before using it as a pen-light for pupil reflexes at work- but it works just fine and isn't too traumatic for that). Might be a little dim if you're using it to walk through the woods and want to see at distances, but i'm using it indoors to see IV pumps, suction canisters, and the keyboard without waking up my patients. no more batteries, it is small enough to hang off my ID badge without feeling 'heavy', and it's always charged (without accidentally coming on). it matches my stethoscope and bandage shears, and the bright color means it never accidentally 'walks away' with a doctor.Edited now, a few months later: it didn't last long. The solar portion still works, but only in strong daylight (not at all indoors). the crank DOES work, but only while cranking, not at all as a reserve (so not so good for use for checking pupils any more). for the price, i'd buy it again. Just know it's not a longstanding product. I'm moving this to the car for now.

Does not work well
I purchased two to give to my god daughters. They are very bright, but the bulb does not always light up.I can't tell if the bulb is not wired in properly, or if it is just the cheap switch, but I have to squeeze the whole unit to make it light up. This applies to both units.

That's a big 10-nope from me.
Well, I received these lights just under a week ago. So, I put them in my window to get some good ole vitamins D. After the entire day of sitting in direct sunlight, the batteries were still completely dead. So, I let them sit another day but the result was still the same...dead batteries. I am returning these lights ASAP.
