Plug-in version has 10' cord with in-line switch and plug-in transformer. Each includes 12 volt 60 watt transformer, matching Lil Wok accessory, lens holder clip, and UV-protected MR16. Works perfectly.
For years, we struggled on how to illuminate our painting over the fireplace. Due to the room dynamics, I did not want to install ceiling mounted track lighting nor install ceiling cans which would effect the thermal break in the ceiling which is also the roof. This was a perfect solution. Since it uses low voltage cable, I could easily hide the low voltage wire in the brick joints as it was routed to the A/C connection. More importantly, my wife loves it and doesn't see the low voltage cable hidden in the brick. As minimizing the power connections to the light source was important to both of us, this was a perfect solution. The only thing I would improve upon would be change the permanent connection from the wire to the lamp (soldered and shrink wrapped) to one that includes a standard 12v disconnect so that the wire could be replaced with a longer or different colored cable. Not all walls are white which would stand out if installed on a bold colored accent wall. I've also replaced the halogen lamp with a LED lamp which works very well and provides similar lumens. Very good product and I'll likely buy more.

Magnificent picture lights
I'm surprised at all the negative reviews for this product. Compared to other picture lights I've tried, these have done a superior job of illuminating the entirety of my paintings (~24"x36" giclee stretched canvas prints), with the focal point of illumination being ~1/3 down the painting, as it should be, while having a sleek and aesthetically pleasing look. Importantly, the bulbs are not visible unless you are literally directly underneath the lights. I use them on a daily basis (3-6 hours) for a series of three paintings on my family room wall and they do a magnificent job of lighting up the paintings (and the room). As for the absence of a on/off switch in the power cord that others have referenced, I bought a remote-controlled outlet from Menards for $7 that I use to control all three lights and it works wonderfully. I would recommend these to anyone.

Best corded light for this purpose
This is the fifth light I have purchased-all for friends and family to highlight original oil paintings. (I have ceiling track lighting.) The light is a bit brighter than it needs to be but still the paintings look stunning as their color and contrast reveal a a more 3-D feel. The light's position is somewhat adjustable so that certain areas of the painting can receive more light as needed. Excellent quality. Easy to install. Somewhat challenging to hide the cord but until it is made cordless this is one of the best lights for this purpose.

It brings a painting to life!
I have bought two of these. Once you put up one, the next is a breeze. I'm not sure why the instructions have you attaching the lamp and shade after the assembly is on the wall. It's much easier to attach them and then mount the light. I have one over a very large painting. It puts so much light on it, I am actually going to get a bulb with less wattage. The gold is a very bring gold. I dulled it down with a little Rustoleum dull gold I already had.

Halogen bulb Not included
I would have given it 5 stars, but the halogen bulb is not included as per description on site, carton and enclosed instructions. The instructions suggest a 50 watt halogen bulb, but found it to be too bright for my art. I decided to switch it to a 35 watt LED halogen, still too bright. Tried a 20 watt LED, but it would not light. Third times a charm, bought a 20 watt regular halogen and it is the prefect brightness for the art work. Other than all the trips to the hardware store, it is a beautiful light fixture. It does not detract from the art, and I like the minimalist look of it. Assembly instructions were excellent and therefore easy to install. I would recommend it and would buy more in the future.

This light makes pictures come alive...
We have 6 pictures that need lighting. We purchased nice looking LED picture lights that was OK, but it seemed to work with only a certain kind of frame and there was way too much reflection off the glass. Nothing wrong with those lights, they just didn't work for us. Then we tried the Tech Lighting Joshua Picture Light and the results were stunning. For one thing, they're halogen lights which is what pretty every art gallery uses. The paintings that we'd had on the wall for years, unlighted, just came alive and became the focal point of whichever room they were in. We are really happy with these lights and highly recommend them.

Perfect light for dark paintings
These are great lights, especially for art with dark colors. I had an expensive pair of lights go bad that we’re on a large dark painting but they were too costly to repair, so I looked for a replacement. It’s hard to find low profile lights but still bright enough bring to bring out colors and detail. Many of the lights I looked at were very expensive. These were very reasonable. They are perfect: Very bright, and low profile. They do stick out far from the wall but that’s a good thing as it spreads out the light. I have ordered lenses that will diffuse the light and spread it our evenly. I hightly recommend these lights.

too much reflection from bulb in glass
simple and looks great!!! I installed on the back of my picture frame at the top (very easy) just make sure you have the right size screws on hand for the width needed.... I had to do this , because I have a fireplace that goes all the way to the ceiling with river rock and cannot install into the wall ~ resting nice on our mantel .... only problem I am having is just trying to eliminate the reflection of the bulb in the glass. If anyone has a answer to this, please respond .... also I agree with another comment. bulb gets way to hot , will be purchasing another bulb from other peoples reviews
