I had to purchase direct from manufacture because whoever was selling it on Amazon would NOT ship to Alaska. Even though this thing cost me $850 it was worth every penny because my dog kept destroying the flapper version. It does very well at -20* F keeping the cold out.

This is quality made unit, but it has a poor design. Very hard to open, which means very hard to train your dog to use this door. I also bought the door closer, and the track for it, which is a poor design. I always felt if someone wanted to break into your home this doggy door was an easy idea. I just feel it is not terribly secure. If this is off of your mudroom or such it is probably a better idea than mine was off of the kitchen. No break-ins, but.....

Love, love, love this door. We've had it several years and our 65-pound Catahoula and 40-pound Aussie mix give this thing hell but it just keeps swinging back like a champ. I swear, the dogs don't even slow down when they sprint through this door. We would go through regular flaps once a year and they'd become warped and lose their heat/cold keeping capability after a month or so. This door does a far better job of insulating against weather than the traditional flap door can. It's also comforting to know I can lock it for extra security, although it's hard to imagine anyone trying to crawl through with a snapping, snarling Catahoula on the other side. Yes, this door is pricy but if it lasts as long as I think it will, then it will be cheaper in the long run than replacing flap doors.

Nice door. REALLY, REALLY CHALLENGING TO INSTALL!You will need to cut both tops and sides to fit. Tough to do with a hack saw. I used a table saw, but most people don't have a table saw to make this manageable. I am a very experienced carpenter and installer and I found this product to be very difficult to deal with. The outcome is very satisfactory, but if you are the least bit timid about installing things, walk on by because this product will have you crying to your mama!

It's expensive but worth the cost. You get what you pay for with this door. I did pay a handyman to install it and it took him about 3 hours.
