We like colin mcNaughton!
We bought this - well, I searched for it my friend paid for it, we got to keep it - after loving 'we're off to look for Aliens' by the same author-illustrator. It was for my little boy's 4th birthday - he chose it from pictures inside the cover of 'we're off...'. And even though my friend is in her seventies she loves a book that deals with things we aren't really supposed to talk about. It is a lovely book. And my boy, who had gone backwards recently has been a little bit more consistent at getting to the loo or the potty and a little bit less rude outside of periods of allowed playfulness. If you like this, another series by another author you might like is the 'Dirty Bertie' series, which covers a variety of less-than-savoury themes with 'delicious' good humour. But no dinosaurs I'm afraid. This one wins on that score. The only slightly negative point is the mild stereo-typing that the mum and dad are a bit odd and blobby and the teacher just a willowy long neck and slim face saying '...in his own good time!' and then getting cross too. The grandma is very realistic- poor grandmasaurus steps in poo though! And when Grandma and Littlesaurus makes Daddysaurus mad well, it is fiction! It is more a remedy to prompt re-balance after you've got cross and said 'I don't care...!' rather than recommendation of a good strategy.

A Wee Wee indeed!!
Colin McNaughton continues in fine fashion. A really enjoyable book, visceral, engaging and hilarious. You have to put the title and its contents into context. If you concentrate on the second sentence and continue to read it with a wry smile and a good giggle in mind the book will continue to create laughs aplenty. If you take this book too seriously and approach it from an unimaginative adult perspective, you'll just find it crass toilet humour.
