Climbing The Eiger currently seems more likely
It's difficult for me to write an unbiased review for this book, being one of the many fortunate people given Refuge by this wise Tibetan elder before he was taken from us in such an unspeakable way. I have therefore deducted 1 star based on this bias alone. I'm also somewhat lacking in self-discipline and haven't yet worked diligently through all the valuable exercises within the pages, so must add fraudulent reviewer to my numerous faults. But I did read it. Twice. Like Akong Rinpoche himself, the teachings are easy to understand and the exercises simple to follow, requiring only a degree of commitment and an earnest desire to improve one's mind. It's likely the only self improvement book you'll ever need.I write this review on the evening that 'Akong: A Remarkable Life' is premiered in London. Being unable to attend the premier and unwilling to take Refuge today, I have instead distracted myself with trivialities before finally commiting to writing a review for a book of teachings by this 5 star lama.May all people come to know the name Akong Rinpoche and learn of his many wondrous deeds. He is deeply missed by his refugees.

Practical guidline to achieve more happiness in life that actually works.
I love this book and can highly recommend it. The book is devided in two parts. First part touching on our human existence and advice on how to deal with our precious human life which I found quite inspiring and motivating. The second part of the book brings us into a selection of practices which help to devolop the mind and how to deal with or get rid of habits that keep us from being who we are. The practices actually offer a program to tame the tiger within which spands 44 weeks of practicing. Doing the practices, I can recommend them. They help to achieve more freedom and healing, empowering oneself to become more the healthy mindful person we all are. The book is also the basis for practical teachings in the Mindfulness Based Living Course, also available here on Amazon, and the work of Tara Rokpa which you also find books about in the Amazon library. The book I've got was in English. Now and then I came across this book being translated in other languages too.

Mindfulness teaching before they were popular !
One of the most accessible books that transcends the Buddhist religion and can be used by anyone if any belief. Its down to earth and very doable. Akong Rinpoche has condensed some very deep teaching into practices anyone can do, that really do work.

Profoundly moving
This book is extreamly profound and has tips and pointers thant can truly change your life. If you read it and think you understand it, think again :) as with most spiritual topics the feeling is more important than the understanding but one needs understanding to truly feel the results. Contemplation and meditation on such topics discussed in this book are truly moving and help change habitual patterns that bond us in suffering.
