The best so far
This isn't just nice it's good, it works, it's easy, and it's quick, my knives were completely blunt and after wasting money on steels I'd given up, bying this was desperation, and I'm so pleased, I use the 600 grade belt and take my time which I believe is the ans. to getting a sharp knife, everything, and I mean everything I've cut is effortless, recommend

Great sharpener but lost plug
Is it possible to buy a replacement plug?

really effective and easy to use
This is a brilliant little gadget. Easy to use and really great at putting a fabulous sharp edge on all our knives. The two finest grades of band are spot on for restoring that as new edge. Much much better than the manual sharpeners, well worth the money, if you want to rediscover what sharp knives are like then get this.

It's a bit of a grind.
I had high hopes for this knife sharpener. Given its nearly £50 price tag, I was expecting good results. I bought it with my father's Day vouchers otherwise I probably couldn't have justified the cost. It arrived quickly and I immediately put it to use. The instructions weren't that clear but it looked simple enough. The first results were great and I had a really sharp edge on one of my good-quality kitchen knives. I must have got lucky because I could never duplicate that result even on the same item. The sanding belt seemed to get floppy very quickly and the sharpening results got worse. Let's face it. it's not rocket science. Just holding a knife against a pre-selected angle and pushing the knife back and forth is the simplicity I was looking for.In the end, I had to resort back to my trusty grinder to finish off the not really sharp blade. Which was stupid hence returning the item. My impression is that the belts got slack and worn too quickly to be able to consistently sharpen and hold a sharp edge. I have read all the other reviews and am just as perplexed as I normally am with the diversity of the reviews. I am glad that it worked for all those other reviewers who are so much cleverer than I, a retired engineer, am.Oh well onwards and upwards in the quest for a knife sharpener that is simple, effective, cheap, and works.

Poor quality, poor results
Simple to use but the result is nowhere near optimal. Not worth the money.

Without doubt the easiest way yo sharpen your knives
Whether your profession demands that your knives are razor sharp, or you're simply sick and tired of destroying your home-cooked meals with blunt knives which might as well be saws, then this electric knife sharpener is an excellent way of getting that smooth, sharp edge to your knives, making cooking SO much easier and more enjoyable.Whilst I'm sure that knife purists/culinary professionals would prefer to use whetstones (knife sharpening stones), if you can't bothered with all of the faff, then electric sharpener uses a moving sanding belt and fixed angled to make knife sharpening an absolute doddle!Although the motorised sanding belt spins quickly and sufficiently enough to grind matal, because of the rubber feet on the bottom of the unit, combined with the comfortable handle/grip, the entire unit stays in place whilst in use, even if only applying a tiny amount of weight/force down whilst using.I have used the knife sharpener for knives and scissors, and with a bit of practise, I could get extremely sharp, smooth edges and a clean finish to the blades. I would recommend doing few trial runs on a knife/blade that you're not overly fussed about, just in case you're a tad overzealous with the sanding..
