No, it comes with everything. However, if you’re using a mac, you’ll of course need to buy the USB adapter.

Do I need an amplifier to run speakers?

It plugs into your computer via usb and RCA cables. You can plug it to an amplifier. There is no power source for audio. All thru a computer. Hope that helps. Works perfectly.
