Toddler Loves this book so much, however questionable storyline..
First things first, this is my toddlers (20 month old) favorite book currently, she grabs it every morning and evening and hands it to us to read to her. I believe it’s the illustrations and the colors. So very nice job at that. When I read the story, I like the concept of explaining emotions and relating them to colors however when the subject is feeling overwhelmed with emotions, he’s told to choose the jars here they belong and separate them so he doesn’t feel confused… at the end all of the emotions are separated in their individual jars.. that almost seems like it is implying to bottle up the emotions… and I don’t want to teach my child that. It’s ok to feel all of your emotions as they can balance each other out but because I do understand the underlying message, I’m going to give it a pass but we should be mindful of telling our children they should put their emotions in a bottle. If you don’t think deep, it’s a great book and I would recommend!
