i like the variety of weights, but disliked the stand had no instructions on how to put it together, not even a picture. i had my husband put it together for me. overall, good value.

Experts tell us we should all do strength training, and having a set of weights at home makes that easier. I had a collection of weights I'd acquired over time, but often felt that I didn't have exactly the right weight -- or I'd have one and need two. With this set, I have a full set from 2 pounds to 8 pounds. I have a set of 10 pounds, and that's enough for me.Having a good-looking, consistent look makes me want to do my strength training more frequently --I'll pass along the old mismatched shabby ones to Goodwill.The stand is plastic. It has two end pieces with bars in between. It goes together with 14 little screws. It took me about 10 minutes to assemble it. I thought it might not be very strong, but it actually holds all the weights securely.The weights are comfortable, with a nice coating. They're all different colors so it's easy to distinguish the one you want and grab it quickly during exercise.

This set is exactly what I wanted. They’re cast iron so they’re not going to randomly break like others do sometimes. The grip is also not too smooth and rubbery like some, which is hard to handle when you sweat. These are a tad sticky feeling, but I stopped noticing after a minute and was just happy that the grip is good even with moist hands. The length of the grips are variable, and the 2 pound weight has juuust enough space for my hand (see pic). I prefer using the smaller weights when I do arm exercises and the heavier ones when I’m focusing more on legs (lunges, etc.). There are some really great Youtube videos with workouts specifically for dumbbells. Even some dancing ones to make it more exciting! I frequently switch out the sizes while I work out if I feel like the weight is too much or not enough. I usually leave them in the stand and take them as I need them, but it’s nice that they aren’t able to roll in case I put them down during the workout. Just a reminder, this set weighs about 40 pounds so the package is not light when it comes in the mail!

This set of weights is awesome and just perfect for most casual home gyms. I have other weights for lifting and home, but for my physical therapy exercises, these are exactly what the doctor ordered - actually, they are quite literally what my doctor prescribed! The set comes with a small rack to hold the dumbbells. The weights all have a rubber-like coating to them, which is nice because it makes them easier to hold on to. If I have any complaint at all, it would be that I wish the coating on the weights was smoother. Instead, it is a bit rough and feels a little gritty against the hands; it is not the most sensation or skin friendly. If you have any sensory issues related to touch you may find the feel of the weights a bit off-putting, and in that case wearing gloves would help. I didn’t find it a big enough deal to take off a star, but I did want to mention it. All in all though, I love the weight and they serve my purpose so well! Highly recommend.

I was not expecting to stand to be very plastic either the way it is. But once I got the pegs put in it to hold it together. It was pretty sturdy. But I was missing one peg.
