Leak solved.
I bought this to replace an older arm that had the threads sheared off the end causing a leak in the wall. I cleaned the threads with a 1/2 inch NPT pipe tap and then inserted the new arm. I needed a lot of Teflon tape to create a seal but that could have been due to damage in the threads or the pipe tap deepening the threads. Happy ending as the leak is stopped.

Convert Standard Shower Head to Handheld
I bought a straight and curved version of this pipe to convert a standard shower head to handheld by attaching a shower hose to one end of the pipe and the shower head to the other. The standard head has swivel so you get a handheld with swivel. This curved one is cheaper than the straight one and more useful for purpose.

Attractive, durable plumbing
Moen makes durable and attractive plumbing materials. I purchased this shower arm to match the shower head and flange that I had already purchased. This shower arm has screw fittings so all you need is teflon tape and the rubber handle of channel lock pliers. You remove your shower head with an adjustable wrench using the fitting on the shower head. You pull off the flange. You insert the rubber handle of the channel lock pliers into the old shower arm and turn slowly counterclockwise to loose the arm. Then by hand you unscrew the old shower arm. Now you wrap four layers of teflon tape around both ends of the new shower arm. You insert the arm into the hole and gently turn by hand clockwise to get the arm started in the fitting in the wall. Now you use the channel lock pliers handle again but this time turn clockwise to tighten and adjust the arm. Put the flange back, screw back on the shower head and you are finished! Moen's shower arms, flanges, and shower heads are made of durable metal and come in a variety of colors.
