whether you're just getting into smithing or are an experienced smith who just doesn't want to build a forge, this forge is the best bang for your buck I could imagine.My old self-made forge was made fromn old propane tank and some Kaowool lined with castable refractory. I found out about the newer, safer Superwool and wanted to upgrade my forge. Then I saw this forge on Amazon and was amazed that this prefab kit comes with everything you need, and it was built around the new standard in ceramic insulation.After looking over what was included it did not even take a second thought - I ordered it.Got it 2 days later.- PACKAGING was GREAT. everything in its own bag, nice and neat and protected and clean.- INSULATION is cut perfectly, even has the burner holes precut!- FORGE LINING - little bags of satanite and rigidizer which are included are a fantastic value-add to this product. If you decide to use them, then it's not just a tube lined with insulation with a Reil burner sticking out of it, it's a proper forge.- BURNERS - the burners are really good for being included with the forge. having built burners, the time save alone is worth it and I doubt i could build them for less than the $24 they sell for on their own. Good quality and a good fit in the forge. They seem to put out plenty of heat! Would like some air chokes and the on-off valve not right above the air port but after adding low pressure gauge it didn't matter- HOSES -- this is where some improvements could be made. Mine came with key-tightening hose clamps and rubber lines to create your Y hose. If you're not dumb, these are fine, but I also don't trust myself to not eventually tap a fuel line with a piece of hot steel, creating a fun fire fountain. I upgraded to a braided stammering stainless hose.- REGULATOR is OK. the upgraded hose I use has a much better regulator.HOW TO MAKE IT BETTER - upgrade the hose and regulator, and then plumb up a low pressure gauge and needle valve (see pics).I was able to maintain forging heat at 1.5 PSI propane, which is a testament to how well the burners work.All in all will absolutely recommend, and if Mr Volcano is reading this, I'd have gladly paid another $100 for preassembled low pressure gauges and needle valves for the burners.

This is an amazing forge. The value you get out of it can't be beat. It's simple to put together and great for a beginner trying to get into the craft.Great value: you're going to spend more buying supplies to make onePortability: Great for small spaces. Bring it out and put it away once it's cool.High quality: I've seen much more expensive forges work worse. It's not going to be a forge you can make a living out of but it'll teach you the skills and then some.The only problem I've had is that the inner refractory coating is cracking quite a bit since I've built it, but it comes with extra to pach that up.Please support Mr. Volcano forge, they make an amazing product

The first one I bought arrived with a damaged box and missing the fuel lines, I believe all this happened during shipping, but the second kit I bought was great. The directions are clear and easy to follow, the forge itself seems to be of high quality especially for the price, and it gets much hotter than the homemade one I had.The bad points are simply the terrible hose clamps that come with the kit. Just throw them in the trash and buy good ones from your local hardware store or here on Amazon. I broke two of them trying to get the hose assembly done and it was very difficult to get back off.If you're looking for a very hot forge at a great price I'd definitely suggest giving Mr. Volcano a shot.

This Forge sounds like it’s going to be great straight out of the box. I have no instructions I was reading where you have to assemble it. You have to mix and harden the inner surface but seeing as how I have no instructions I have no idea how to do this! This manufacture has not enabled a contact manufacture button and trying to go through. Amazon is problematic at times. When I’m actually able to get this forge together and use it I will update my rating. I found instructions online. No big deal, step-by-step instructions of what you need to do. It’s pretty easy. Takes a little bit of time. I did not do any other fast drying steps. I just let it cure in the sun. This has been a great little Forge so far. It gets the metal hot enough to form and work with. Took a little bit of trial and error. I am a novice and have never done any black smithing at all. If I can put this together and use it anyone can that’s why I change the rating from one star to five star.

The functionality is good and the heat level is really good

This is a seriously great value for the money. To put together all the parts to make a forge like this from scratch would cost way more. The new design is a big improvement. After following the instructions I ended up with a very nice even lining. Take your time and let it dry thoroughly between steps. Some little cracks formed but that’s normal. I haven’t brought it up to welding temperatures but I’m sure it will just fine, way more heat than my old home made forge. The instructions are nicely laminated which shows they care about the product. They also emailed me to amend the instructions, cautioning that if your only running one burner to remove the other one to prevent heat chimney and melting the gas valve. If you want a forge don’t hesitate, this is the one.
