I'd been using a Bissell Powerforce Powerbrush carpet cleaner for several years now which worked very well but I wanted something with a wider cleaning path and stronger suction. When I saw this Hoover machine on sale during the Black Friday weekend for under a hundred dollars I couldn't resist. It worked great on my carpets, and with its powerful suction I didn't have to make as many "dry passes" to suck up the water, and that factor combined with its 12 inch wide cleaning path means I can do the carpet in half the time. I think it actually cleans a little better, too. It's also easy to clean out after use because the dirty water tank has a removable cover, and the nozzle and brush can both be easily removed. After I cleaned my carpets I used it to clean my sheet vinyl flooring with just plain hot water and got it cleaner than I ever did with my old spin mop and soap, although I missed some spots where the water pooled and mopped them up later with a towel. I was a little concerned that the nozzle might scratch the vinyl, but it glided smoothly and I saw no evidence of scratching. Also the brushes are soft and do not bear down hard on your floor or carpet, yet it seems they work very well. Don't be put off by the fact that the brushes are not connected to the motor. Suction provides sufficient power to turn the brushes, at least on my medium pile carpet.This machine also has a bag with attachments, a hose and even a small turbo brush you can use for upholstery and stairs, though I may never use these as I have a separate machine dedicated to this purpose.On the downside, it seemed to pick up fewer cat hairs than my old Bissell. Also it's heavier, bulkier, and takes a noticeable effort to push. Some reviewers have reported durability issues. Time will tell, but I'm betting it will provide good service for years.If you have minimal carpet you might prefer a smaller and more nimble machine, but if you have a lot of carpet then I think this is a good purchase even at its regular price. I feel I got a steal at 100 dollars. I'm so far very happy with it.

Updated February 19, 2022. This is my 5th unit. I ordered on Monday Feb 7 and received Wednesday Feb 9th. I called the Hoover line and talked to a representative on Thursday Feb 10th. I pointed out the concern on this newer model the four release tabs for the brush release are missing (engineering upgrade) which it very hard to service the brushes when they get dirty.. When I used the machine for the first time to clean the carpet I noticed that the plunger was popping up way too soon, thus eliminated the dirty water vacuum pick up. Thus I had to stop and restart several times that were unnecessary and time consuming. This was a lack of engineering.This is the newest Model which needs some fine tuning. I was very disappointed. Overall is does a good job of cleaning however.Manufacturing Engineer from GM OhioP.S. I have been using a Dollar General cleaner call Fabuloso (dark purple color with Lavender scent) very low foam, Plus it is very inexpensive. I have been using the product for over 10 years.I also added weight to the plunger so that it does not plunge up too soon. Just part of engineering fine tuning. Now I do not have to stop and empty so often. The fifth unit came on 2-18-2022. It performed wonderfully. The reason I keep one working unit on each floor of my house.Up dated again on 2-20-2022.I decided to wire the plunger to keep the airway open. It works much better. the foam and/or dirty water does not go down the inlet. I make sure that I empty the used water every new tank of water and soap.P.S. I just realized that amazon show two models in Red with the same Model Number. One comes with the red Hoover matt and the other one does not. I ordered and received the used one as an additional back up for a better price. Received it in excellent new condition, it was repackaged but did not have the red Hoover matt.These are good machines, my older ones wore out due to motor failure and/or the plastic swirl plastic casing breaking up into small pieces.
