Our Planet! There's No Place Like Earth (Our Universe, 6)

Love these books! My 5yo and I enjoy reading this book. Learning about ecosystem with nice graphics. I just love learning with my little one because knowledge is power. This book also teaches us about taking actions to take care of our planet earth.

My wife’s Kindergarten class enjoyed the books in this series when working on an “Me on the Map” unit and then with an Earth Day unit. There is a lot of humor in these books that younger students may not get, but older students do! Never the less, this book along with most of the others in the series were used as read alouds with Kindergartners with success. The students enjoyed looking at the books on their own after to get a closer look at the comical illustrations.

I love all her books. They are a must have for any elementary teacher. I have used them from Kinder all the way to 5th. All ages like them. They are informative, fun, keep the kids attention and the science is accurate.

My five-year-old son connected with this storyline. Beautiful illustrations and educational knowledge for our children to cherish and practice in their lives to lead to love and appreciate our planet earth.

Overall I think this is a great book introducing children to Earth, however, you have to use your judgment about where your child is at developmentally. This is kind of a harrowing book. I bought my son, who just turned four, the Earth, Moon and Sun books and he loves them all, but this Earth book is not a happy book. It contains a strong message about our current climate crisis that I don't think my son is developmentally ready for. He is intelligent enough to understand the basics of our solar system but he does not have the emotional development to process this existential crisis - something even adults are having a hard time with. I don't think I would have purchased this book if I had known it emphasized the climate crisis so heavily. But for an older child I think it could be an important tool for opening up that conversation.

Another book in the Universe series, in Our Planet, Earth explains climate change so even the youngest readers can understand. David Litchfield’s illustrations help bring Earth to life. Excellent addition to an amazing series!

Stacy read this to my classroom via zoom. We had our copy on hand to read later. The kids loved the book and learning about earth.
