Catwoman of East End Omnibus Hardcover – June 21, 2022

The omnibus format has pros and cons, this particular omnibus is excellent. It is great having everything in one volume, especially the Darwyn Cooke stuff. Omnibus' can be hard to read because of the size and weight, however sitting at a table solves that challenge. It can sometimes be frustrating to try and see the art near the spine since there are so many pages and they do not lay flat, that is a minor critique of an otherwise beautiful book. The graphic design of the book is perfect, it looks great and feels great. Worth the price of admission for sure.

This is the entire run of Catwoman ,which revitalized the character through great art and sharp storytelling. Darwyn Cooke, Cameron Stewart, Ed Brubaker and Paul Gulacy are the amazing creative talents that make this an incredible deal for the money. (Only $70.dollars for 1064 pages -6.65 lbs. , when I bought it) Can't recommend it enough. Book was packaged well and was in perfect condition. 5 stars for content and for condition/shipping from Rockwood Books.

Ed Brubaker’s run (in partnership with the late great Darwyn Cooke at the beginning) is the high point for any Catwoman solo series thus far. For those who enjoyed The Batman and are looking to get into comics, Zoë Kravitz’s portrayal and look are heavily influenced by Brubaker’s antiheroic writing and Cooke’s costume design. This giant book looks fantastic, and fans of Selina Kyle, Brubaker, and Cooke will love it.

Well then I guess I’m just not a Catwoman fan?After reading Gotham Central I really expected more from Ed Brubakers writing. I’m not sure if it’s just limitations to the character, or something else, but I really did not care for the writing in this. Events sort of “just happen” without them feeling earned. Maybe it’s pacing, maybe I just didn’t connect with the story others would, but whatever it is it just didn’t work for me.
