I just installed this, drilled a great big hole in the fairing for the USB outlet, loaded all of my favorite songs onto a flash drive and plugged it in. Nothing. Contacted customer service at Metra, he had never heard of it not working. I just got an email from them, saying that the USB port is for charging only. WHAT???????? That is not what the ad says. Beware. Streaming audio only. At least now there is a port to charge my phone as it goes dead from streaming audio. Doggone it.

Simple to install if you know your way around tools, motorcycles and Harley electrical systems. I recommend having a service manual handy if your a novice mechanic. I installed this on my '09 FLTR and it works flawlessly. It paired easily to my BLU R1 Android phone and it displays Artist and Track Title information from Pandora on the radio screen - very nice and unexpected feature! I tried to pair it to my Garmin zumo 550 Harley RoadTech edition, but have been unsuccessful - I guess I'm stuck with the Aux cable, which is why I only rated 4 stars. It comes with a USB jack for phone charging - I drilled a hole (3/4") in the left glove box of my fairing and mounted it there; the USB is only hot when the radio is on (ignition on or accessory on). You do have to make sure your radio has firmware 8.25 (the current version) or higher and you can download it from the Harley website for free and burn it to a CD; more details are in the comprehensive install instructions for the Metra BT-HD01 and on the the Harley-Davidson website. All-in-all this is a good buy and I recommend it if you want to add Bluetooth functionality to your factory Harman-Kardon Advanced Audio system instead of replacing it.
