Q: How can i use the ir receiver? old homeowners just left two speakers in the drywall and ir receiver hanging out.

I have two of these "dinky links". One is in a closet, that backs to the my TV. I can use my cable box without having it on the furniture. The other is in a a cabinet, and I don't have to keep the doors open to use the cable box. the signal is received through the door and the cable box works perfectly. The IR is good if you don't want the cable box to be seen. It's a very clean look. Set up took about 5 minutes.

You can check the specs on the IR receiver. One of mine is about 25 feet away and the other is closer to 30 and they receive the signal perfectly.
