Q: Will this cable work fine if I connect two to double the length for a wifi adapter? I bought 1 and it works great, but I need a little longer.

The maximum length of a USB cable is specified as 5 meters (just under 15 feet). Any longer than that and you will be at risk of signal loss. 28/24AWG refers to the diameter of the conductors of the wires in the cable. The wires that carry power are thicker, so there is less resistance. Bottom line - you really don't need to care. :-)
