A good read for anyone person interested in managing their weight.
Written in a chatty accessible style, this book gives a good background to the lay reader on the pitfalls of dieting whether to gain or lose weight. There are many many references to Scott Abel's PT coaching clients intended to illustrate his points, which some readers may find helpful, interesting or informative (although after a while I came to question his PT 'style' which is very driven and to be expected given his background in competitive body building). An interesting read which gathers a lot of current information under one cover: hopefully it won't be long before the very lucrative world of weight management catches up with the well-evidenced standpoint that weight loss diets don't work and we need another approach to help people manage their weight. I've knocked off a star because of the writing style: I prefer a more structured and referenced approach.

Basically perfect. The first book I read about this subject that actually made me feel empowered. Really appreciated its honesty - reading it I couldn't help but evaluate my lifestyle. By the time I was done, I knew what I had to do. Thanks for all the help Scott Abel!

No better books on metabolism than this & Scott Abel’s other book
You really can’t find better books on metabolism than this and another Scott Abel book. You will learn so much and refer back to these over and over again. I read all of his books twice, with two colors of highlighters in hand.

Typos
I can't say too much about the book because I couldn't get past all the typos. I didn't notice it was self published.
