Mildly pricey Intel X710-T2L nic, provides sr-iov, etc. while also supporting 2.5g lan
This seemed a little pricey in comparison to generic cards based on the same Intel X710-T2L, but the quality was great. What you get with the X710-T2L over say the X550-T2 is essentially the generational improvements in energy use, plus whatever tweaks they may have done but aren't really mentioned. Both chipsets offer support for 10g/2.5g/1g/100m, as well as sr-iov and other features that might not be found in home-user targeted nics. I had went with this over the X550-T2 just because of its age and it being more likely to see driver updates further into the future along with its intended use in a QNAP NAS.That said the X550-T2 based cards also work great and can be found for pretty cheap. If I were looking for a 2.5g lan nic, I'd go this route over the Intel i225 based cards which have had some issues as well as features being removed for some OSs (RSS is disabled for most versions of the chipset depending on OS).

Very noisy and also quite expensive.
The media could not be loaded. I bought this device because the manufacturer advertises wide compatibility with different devices. The device really works, but the built-in active fan constantly makes loud noise, it is connected with two wires without a PVM. It became the loudest device in my entire home lab. The support service is incompetent, did not answer questions. I bought it for $ 350, the price is about 2 times higher than it should be for such a device. If you are looking for a quiet network card at a reasonable price, this product is not for you.

Installed card, installed drivers from QNAP site, NIC worked flawlessly....!
hard to find drivers directly at QNAP's website; could only find driver by searching for driver thru Google, which then gave link thru QNAP's website...(only a 2 minute distraction/exercise in frustration) Otherwise, unzip driver to desktop, run installer, and...done!)
