Triple Option Adjustable Dead

I agree with another customer who said;"This dead latch works great and is easy to install but the "Triple Faceplate" is a joke.You should be able to pop off the faceplate and snap the other in place which is what I wanted to do but the faceplate is locked on the backplate because it is notched onto the backplate which would make it hard to get off without breaking the backplate.If you look at the picture you can see the notch on the back side of the holes in the faceplate. I don't see why Schlage had to notch the holes like that because the screws will hold the faceplate with no issue. I was looking for this product with a non-rounded faceplate and bought this one with the hopes it could be changed. The instructions said to pop off with flat screw driver and it is a good idea if it worked.”I used a flat bladed screw driver and pound it like a chisel in the notch on the back of the faceplate. I was able to force the original faceplate off and use the non-rounded faceplate. The dead latch worked great once installed.

This is my 3rd replacement, the same part keeps breaking inside. These are so simple to replace that i keep doing it but i would have thought the design wojld have been updated by now to fix the issue.

Having replaced all of our entry door knobs, etc when we moved in, we have a variety of styles including the usual Schlage brass knobs and some high end stainless steel sets. One deadlach failed after 12 years (not bad for the every day use on that door), and the replacement deadlach was a perfect fit. I checked the SS set, and it should take the same one. Same mechanism, year after year, with various faceplates to fit rounded or squared off ends. Nice to find a product with the parts to fix it as it ages.

Went in easily. It is well designed to fit either length. I could not tell from the picture. I read reviews and others said no issue so I ordered. The design is such that whether you have a know close to door edge or a little farther away, you simply install and there are two operational holes and mechanisms in the latch. Then after installing the latch, you put the door know through the door hole and the stem goes through the corresponding hole in the latch. Well thought. Not the highest quality but should last many years and price is right so if I have to change again in ten years, so be it. I took all of two minutes to remove the door handle, remove the existing (worn out Schlage) latch, install the new latch, and reinstall the door knob again. Four screws and about five or six total pieces I touched.

Instead of buying a new door handle set for 10 times the price at the home improvement store, I got this. I was able to install it in less than 10 minutes and had a working front door again. I used it to fix the door handle with a knob in the interior and the large handle with the thumb latch on the front.

Replaced the deadlatch for a Schlage fe595 that was "stuck" unless you turned the lever.What this meant was the door never closed without turning the handle.I didn't realize you couldn't remove the end piece though. I was hoping to remove the brass and replace it with the dark brown I had for the broken deadlatch.Oh well, worked perfectly. Door now shuts.

My Schlage keypad lock worked, but the 'latch' wouldn't move when the door was closed. You had to hold the handle down to retract it. I did a quick search and discovered this latch replacement would save the lock. It was easy to install and it works perfectly. The entire lock was over $100, this replacement much, much less. I'll remember this when my other locks start acting up.

Dead latch on 20+ year old wooden door between our garage and sunroom started getting too sticky to be reliable. Ordered this Schlage replacement latch, received it two days later. Took less than 5 minutes to install, works perfectly (so far....). Reasonably priced. Great shopping experience, highly recommend!
