StarLight Water Ripple Effect Light Projector with 16 Colors, 3 Modes, 3 Speeds, & Remote Control(Black)

My wife and I, senior citizens by the way, are musicians and have a band. We wanted some stage lighting effects for our gigs. We didn't want to spend a lot of money so we decided to try these lights. We bought four of them.Cons.One came with no remote and the plastic lens was unattached and floating loosely in the fixture (a plastic holding tab inside the unit was busted off). Must have been a return that got re-shipped as one of our four lights. A little glue fixed the lens and we had three other remotes so we got around the problems with it. In a dark room, the power of the lights is probably great. We have ambient light where we use them so they aren't quite as bright as I would like them to be. But they are bright enough that you don't want to look right at them. The last con would be that the power chord plugs loosely in the unit. Does not snap in solidly. Hope this doesn't become a problem.Pros.For the money, they are pretty good. From my research, it appears that many do not have a motor stop button on the remote. These do. We like that feature. We set two of them on auto with no motor (meaning no wave effect). In this mode, the motionless colors fade in and out so it's a nice effect for us. The other two units we set to "sound activated" so they quickly change colors to the beat of the music we're playing. Pretty cool. No music, no lights... but then the other two remain on to keep some ever-changing colored lighting on the back wall of the stage. Actually, we used them at a gig last night. Again, brighter would have been nicer but they weren't bad. We are happy with them.

Pretty cool little gadget. Biggest complaint is the sensitivity of the microphone is not quite desirable. It fails to change with a fairly large frequency range particularly in the lower frequency levels. I find it works best when placed close to mids / high's. The automatic mode is really cool. Or just pick an ambient color and let it do its thing.The cord is ultra short. I guess the manufacturer figured no one would stick it high up on a shelf or wall where most people would place their speakers. This makes for a fairly unattractive installation.The little clamps to hold the thing up do not work well. I'm constantly having to re-adjust them and tighten down the screws.Three stars because it is a cool gadget. Two deducted for some fairly poor design considerations and the microphones lack of sensitivity.

The product itself feels a little cheap. I've bought different versions of this light projector, and this projector has its pros and cons. This projector is very small and light so it can be hung anywhere and out of view if you want more of a hidden light. As for functionality, the remote itself works, but at a short distance. I feel like it defeats the purpose of having the remote if I am unable change the settings of the light with the remote. The light is bright but under the first speed setting, the light movement still feels fast. I wish it was a little slower and calmer like water. The colors are not true since they mesh up two colors up to make a color. Overall, this product is okay for a small function, but I don't prefer you buying this. There are other kinds out there that may be better than this.

Overall very satisfied. I got this for my dorm room and it does a really nice job of transforming the room. The colors are really nice and the pattern looks cool. My only complaints are the microphone and options. You need a very loud speaker or you have to put the device right next to to speaker for it to work properly, and it's still not that great. The remote is also very basic leaving you with a few modes, all of which are nice. For the price it's at though, this thing is a steal. Highly reccomend.

For the price, the actual unit and light output is fine, but I'm another purchaser for whom the remote seems to not be working. I even replaced the battery with a fresh one. So, while I can use the mode button on the back of the unit itself for certain functions, I have no individual control over the color selection in any given mode nor the speed or the strobe effect. :( The response to music also requires a very close and loud sound source.

The light arrive with the lens rattling on the inside of the product. I used a screwdriver to remove the end and found a retaining clip that had broken during shipment or at least I assume during shipment I would hate to think that this was shipped with it not working from the factory. I carefully superglued the lens back into place and put this for screws in the end back onto the product plugged it in and it worked perfectly.

When we first got this light it was amazing the color options and remote worked great it is small, light weight, and the light has a wide throw, the mounting hardware is easy to install, overall it seemed like a great product. I bought this to project onto my "wall of tiki masks" and it did everything I wanted it to do. Problem is after about three weeks it just stopped spinning and making the ripple effect. The LED lights still turn on but the water ripple effect just stopped. Not sure if it is just cheaply made inside or what, the unit itself feels pretty sturdy, if you need a short use light effect this one is great. If something more long term maybe try a different brand.

I always wanted a ripple-type light and I'm glad they've finally made one that's affordable. This light looks great, but the automatic sound-reactive mode requires that the sound either be extremely loud, or the light be directly in front of a speaker. I have a large variety of sound-activated lights and this one is by far the least sensitive to sound at volumes below ear-splitting. It really needs a sound sensitivity adjustment dial or just an increase in sensitivity overall. I set the light directly on top of a speaker, but not being able to hang it from the ceiling and still have sound-reactivity is highly disappointing. If you don't care about sound-reactive mode, you should be pleased though. Caveat: I use the product only occasionally and cannot speak of its longevity.
