Soy

I originally heard Debi Nova on "So You Think You Can Dance" and immediately went out to buy her first disc. That remains my favorite, with more danceable elements than "Soy," but my husband and I enjoyed this a lot and recommend it.

Big fan, I enjoy her music.

I listen to this in my car most days right now. Her songs are so catchy!

Boarding a plane from SJO to LAX, after a 10 hour delay, I was weary and not in a good mental state. I found my seat 4C, where I was pleased, for once, to sit next to someone attractive and seemingly normal. After several minutes of silence, I smiled politely to my travel partner to acknowledge her presence. I received back, a brilliant, glowing smile, that god normally reserves only for angels. I thought to myself, perhaps this is person isn’t “normal” in the everyday use of the word.Part-way through the flight, I asked, “are you an entertainer”? Humbly she said, “Yes I am”. I asked,“A singer”? “Yes” she said with a surprised look. I asked, and she told me her professional name was Debi Nova. (She was on the way to the Grammy’s in Las Vegas, but never mentioned that.)I share this, because I feel that an important part of appreciating someone’s (singer-songwriter) music, knowing that the words of the music come from a genuine place. For me this is important, I was weaned on the, vinyl pressed, greats of folk and rock from the 70’s, (Joni, Bob, Van, James, Jim, Jimmy, Janis, CSN and Y) when music was made from integrity of the heart, and not just for the money. (Debi Nova is genuinely very nice, humble, y ella tiene mucho corazón) Yea….yea, but can she sing?Several days after my flight I had some time and I Googled, Debi Nova then played her music. WOW....YES, she CAN sing AND play the piano, AND the acoustic guitar. I was not prepared to be blown away. Many people can sing, but not like this! I love music. I just haven’t found much recently that I truly enjoy. It was my good fortune to be on that flight.Debi Nova is a Costa Rican born Latina, and sings some English, but mostly songs in Spanish, with a Latin beat from several influences. Spanish is the greatest language to express emotions. I am “Gringo” but I understand some Spanish. However, you don’t need to speak any Spanish to love these songs. If you understand the language of music, and enjoy music that fills your heart with deep emotion, or songs that involuntarily make your body move to a beat, then you will love Debi Nova’s music.

Debi Nova has a very beautiful voice ...One of my favorite artist .. Needs to do another CD en espanol

I think this album is better than her first one.Looking forward to the next one.
