Peter Beard (Photofile) Paperback – Illustrated, April 27, 2009

Book was like new condition and I am fascinated by Peter and Karen Blixen, so it was a good choice for me to see some of his photographic works.This is a very small book with very little dialogue, mainly pictorial .

I have loved his photography and journal photo's for years.I have a special thing for people who have written a book, based on their personal journal's. Was not prepared for the graphic images of an African way of life back in the day. Peter Beard has taken such beautiful, haunting photos of Africa. Unfortunately, people who hunt will love this, non-hunter's will not.All I could focus on was the cruelty and slaughter of beautiful animals in his photographs.I gave my book away not even reading the whole book. I don't even want it in my house.I continue to appreciate and love his artwork. His photography is breathtaking.

Cet ouvrage , de dimensions poche , est une belle approchede l'américain Peter Beard , ami de Karen Blixen et de Francis Bacon.Son oeuvre graphique , mélant photographies , collages , sang , terre ,sable , est souvent intense. Beard ayant vécu (encore ) une grande partie en Afrique ,photographie magnifiquement les animaux , et met l'accent sur la sauvageriehumaine ( bête dépecée , peaux arrachées , ossements). Pas de chichis .Hélas , on pourra reprocher à cet artiste , un mélange de superficialitéparadoxale. Ses photographies de top modèles féminins ( il fût aussi photographe de mode ),accolées à celles de la Nature africaine sonnent parfois comme du vrai mauvais goût. Dommage...Cela dit , ce livre est une réussite.
