Charlie Parker for Piano - Book 1: 15 Piano Solos Arranged from His Recorded Solos Paperback – June 1, 2008

The entire series intrigued me so I purchased them all.Book 1 stands out because my (most) favorite pieces, are in it - Back Home Blues and Yardbird Suite. I found the transcriptions to be the best I have ever seen or played, as they are full scores, not just chord or lead sheets. You will find that the pieces in these books are very true to style and bring back Charlie Parker's feeling in a manner that is very characteristic of his saxophone pieces.I would recommend any of these books to a pianist who finds one or more of the pieces in these books to be one of his / her favorites by Charlie Parker and would like to work them up on the piano. I believe the transcriptions to be outstanding and a work of love and genius!I would rate these as intermediate (at least) in difficulty.

This book is exactly what I was looking for. Bright yet relaxing style of jazz.
