The Essential Ernest Holmes

This is my favorite collection of Ernest Holmes writings. It takes sources from many places and puts it together nicely to be able to follow clearly Holmes' logic and reasoning and insights. This writer was a rare psychological and spiritual genius...especially for his time. He teaches the Power of Positive Thinking...but breaks it down and teaches it in a much more in depth and useful way. He was a highly advanced thinker, ahead of his time and no one since has written on these topics with such clarity.

If you're going to read only one book by Ernest Holmes, this should be the one. It contains all the wisdom of this great philosopher drawn from all his other books. A truly profound and transformative read.

I would give five stars to the content of the book. It is well written and has GREAT information about the powerful Science of Mind teachings, as well as personal info about Dr. Ernest Holmes. The physical quality of this paperback book and its pages is not great. I would give it only two stars. This is such a fine book, I wish I had purchased it in hard back.

I'm not a big fan of his writing style but I love what he has to say - a school of thought based not on the conclusions made in some long-lost past but based on your own tested experience, and a way of participating in your own life that respects your integrity. Find out what works and do that. It's a very nice synthesis of practices and thoughts that have been expressed throughout human history in many places and languages. Worth reading and thinking about. Don't reject it because of the clumsy writing style.

If your looking to have one book that can give you the biggest bang for your buck on Science of Mind, then this is the book for you. I had to buy this book for class. After reading a bunch of E.Holmes books for my two year course, I found this was a perfect way to wrap up my studies. It was a very comprehensive book on Holmes's Ideas and key events in his life, which helps to know the author more intimately.

How can you not love Ernest Holmes? Other than the inspired writers of the Bible...Ernest is a must have in my library.

Very easy read. I love the modernized explanations and I use it to supplement my study for introduction to SOM class.

Ernest Holmes was a remarkable man; learned, insightful, a teacher of the things that matter in life. Were we to follow his thoughts and learn the value of who we are, each of us might have a greater impact on anyone with whom we come in contact daily, even the stranger in line at the grocery store. Love is an all-pervading force in the world, one we can respond to with gratitude and willingness to share.
