OWON VDS1022i USB PC-Based Oscilloscope - 2+1 (Multi) Channels Handheld Portable 25MHz Bandwidth With Channel Isolation for DIY and Automotive

I love this thing. If you have a specific need then there are plenty of reviews on YouTube. This is the isolated input version useful for working on switch mode per supplies. My O/S is Windows 10-64 bit and it works. A great value beginners scope for run-of the-mill measurements.

Bought this one after I returned another USB model from a different manufacturer. This scope does DC or AC coupling as well as allowing for external triggering. It's the 'isolated' version too so, in theory, could take an input of up to 400v - it's not going to get much about 20v for my uses! I bought it to replace a fairly hefty CRT oscilloscope that still works but that doesn't have the digital features that this type of scope has.It's USB so requires to be plugged into a PC with the included software. I am actually using the scope on a small Linux based laptop (see pictures) rather than the windows software. There is software that does work on Linux despite what you may read. Just use your favourite search engine with the terms 'owon vds1022 linux' and the top result should be a link to a github page with all the instructions you need. I tried installing on Linux Mint and Antix and both installs worked flawlessly and only need very basic linux knowledge.The unit itself feels OK quality and comes with two probes. These probes are actually OK (the photos I show have one of the provided probes in CH1 and one of my own probes bought from elsewhere attached in CH2) and are easy enough to plug in and calibrate.The pictures show the unit running Antix Linux and are showing some signals from an Amiga A2000 RAM expansion board.Overall, I'm very pleased so far and it's far better than the previous unit I had that came from 'another' manufacturer..

Pros:Great priceGreat functionalityVery worth the money £80.99 in my case.Test leads are pretty good.Within all advertised limits providing it is given a decent USB source (see below)Cons:Accuracy ...Be VERY careful - it is very choosy when it comes to supply voltage. All USB ports are not the same. It really does not like USB extension leads or hubs even the powered types. It will give erroneous voltage levels +- 20% even on its own test signal and AFTER a self calibration.With the correct supply straight from motherboard of PC I found it to be accurate enough though.Software is functional - no more - no less. Looks like an old VB design from the nineties. 8-| Shame really.Overall a pretty good purchase - especially if you are looking to isolate from mains.

On paper, this looks like astounding value: 2 channels at 10MHz plus trigger for under £100.In the box, you get the oscilloscope hardware itself, plus a CD containing a whole load of software for Windows. Installation was OK, but a bit fiddly (you have to select the correct drivers, and then install the correct program for the hardware you've got), bit OK. Once I'd figured out what I needed to do, it installed just fine.But, I have to point out the problems. Firstly, it's on a CD. Who actually has a CD drive these days? I had to try to find an old external drive to install anything at all (there's no option for a downloadable install). Another reviewer thought that the code looked like it had been written in 1980s-vintage Visual Basic. I agree, and I think that might be because with a hundred different software versions on one CD, it's impossible to supply updates.Secondly, it's Windows. Fine if Windows is your thing. For me, I only have a windows computer to host Linux VMs! These days, it shouldn't be that hard to write something to suit Mac users and Linux users.Once up and running the, software worked well. The depiction on the screen was detailed and clear, and the controls were easily accessible. You can choose between dots mode and interpolated lines mode, and you can even switch on a simulated 'phosphor persistence' which works really well. I've added a screenshot to give you an idea of how good it looks.But, again, I have to point out the problems. Trace offset is done using a selectable on-screen slider, which is just uncontrollable! Trigger point is adjusted using another on-screen slider, which is also bemusing.The software also offers an x-y mode and a FFT mode. These are not so good. When you engage either of these, two windows pop up above the v-t traces - you can't zoom-in either of the views. Also, the x-y view offers no interpolation nor persistence, and the fft offers very little in the way of zoom. But it's worse: the scope stores only 5k samples, and the software is incapable of displaying more than one frame, with the result that complex plots just degrade into mush (as you can see from the screenshot). In the end, I found both of these effectively unusable.Triggering from the two input channels is solid and stable. I think the hardware does a good job (and I think it is the hardware that handles the triggering). The third input to the scope offers (among its other capabilities) a trigger input, but I couldn't get it to work at all, even when I fed it with a nice clean TTL signal.I really wanted to like this. It's decent hardware, let down by obsolete and inadequate software. In the end, it just wasn't up to the job I needed, and I returned it. Shame.

I'm using this for my gentle foray into microcontrollers in a home lab. It is perfect for my hobby needs.

This is a decent oscilloscope for general use and takes up little space. The specification is genuine and does not require top end PC or laptop, as all the main functions are conducted in the unit and only display aspects are required in the PC. There are very few foibles, largely working on all major functions. EXT trigger works but needs a little patience and understanding although my unit only accepts rising edges but is still usable, so a worthwhile addition at this price point. I have a query on EXT trigger logged with Owon, so may have an answer soon. In short, this is a good product, well executed in both hardware and software, matching it's specification at an unbeatable price. I am very please to have bought it and making use of it more and more in my retirement.

Gaat niet op Windows 11, vind wel de hardware en de drivers kun je installeren maar als je het programma start vind deze het apparaat niet.Terug gestuurd en een andere bestelt bij Amazon en dat is wel top.

Installation lief problemlos unter Windows7.Die Treiber etc. habe ich mir von der Owon-Website geladen.Die Auto-Kalibrierungsfunktion ist gut, man kann aber auch alles manuell einstellen.Schade, dass die Sample Rate nicht einstellbar ist. Passt sich offensichtlich auf die Frequenz an, die gemessen wird. Bei kleinen Sinuspegeln und niedriger Frequenz, z.B. 100Hz, sieht man auf Grund der niedrigen Sample Rate - 125Ks/s - deutliche Digitalisierungsartifakte in der Darstellung. Hier wäre eine manuelle Anpassung, falls das technisch möglich wäre, gut.Ggf. stelle ich hierzu noch ein paar Bilder ein.Ansonsten bin ich bis jetzt sehr zu frieden mit dem Gerät. Triggerung funktioniert auch problemlos.War als Ersatz für meinen alten Grundig-Oszi MO10 gedacht, der leider auf Grund eines technischen Defekts nicht mehr einsatzbar ist.Das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis stimmt.Den Kauf kann ich empfehlen!

Il prodotto è arrivato nei tempi previsti, ottimamente imballato ed integro. Si installa tranquillamente su Win10. Sufficienti le sonde a corredo, minimali ma efficienti. Non ho ancora effettuato delle misure per verificare la banda passante, ma mi riserverò di aggiornare la recensione in futuro. Assolutamente consigliato, visto anche il prezzo contenuto, per chi non abbia necessità di arrivare a frequenze più alte del dichiarato, per le quali serve un altro ordine di strumento (e di prezzo).

Das Oszilloskop ließ sich ohne Probleme mit der Software von der Homepage des Herstellers unter Windows 11 installieren. Etwas verwirrend ist das Y-USB Kable, da das Oszilloskop nicht funktioniert, wenn man aus Versehen den dünneren Anschluss benutzt.Die Software wäre ausbaufähig, aber es gibt eine inoffizielle Version auf github die tadellos funktioniert. Von der Bedienung sind aber beide etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig. Anscheinend ist das aber auch bei Hantek ein Manko. Aber gerade die Software macht auch einen Großteil der Funktion aus.Die Verarbeitung des Oszi im Alugehäuse schaut wertig aus. Ein Messwunder bei der Abtastfrequenz braucht man sich nicht erwarten, aber für den Einstieg und einfache Messaufgaben geht es ok.
