IDP SMART-21S ID Card Simplex Printer Kit with PC Only Software, 100 Print YMCKO Color Ribbon, and 100 PVC Plastic Cards

This is a great ID printer, used for our small private school. Quality pictures, quality plants, and worth the money you will spend on it.

I purchased this so I could do full edge to edge printing of ID badges however, there is a small unprinted border where the printer just cannot get to. In addition to this it does not consistently print the color blue. When printing blue it almost always comes out a shade of purple. Tried to trouble shoot both issues with helpdesk. For the lack of blue printing we were not able to correct it. Was told from the helpdesk that this model does not actually print full edge to edge. This is different than advertised and I need the full edge to edge printing and the color blue to print correctly every time.

this id maker works very well but the customer service is trash 3 stars for the product, no stars for customer service

Every time I'm needing they don't have inventory.

Bad quality and the ribbon is so hard to replace. I’m still trying to return it it broke after printing only 50 cards

print quality is gorgeous, the down side to this particular smart-21 model is that i can't find the ribbon to be bought by itself, we're a small group and use the rfid cards for electronic doors and the only ribbon refill option currently available has a bundled pack of 100 pvc cards we don't need. it also seems to be limited to 100 prints per roll of ribbon. and amazon doesn't seem to sell the right model directlysearching the website is a tad confusing as well. giving several ribbon options with little details and no links to actually buy them.initially bought the wrong ribbon despite the box labeling saying the same thing except the code sticker, which also isn't clearly labelled that it's for the smart-31 or smart-51 printers, but the ribbon that it came with does say S21 COLOR Ribbon.also using the diagnostic software that came with the device, it acknowledges the new ribbon as full with 250 prints but then the printer fails when trying which would be a lot less confusing if it simply said that the ribbon has an error or that it's the wrong type.support was very responsive and helpful with all of the information presented and directed me to the wrong ribbon issue.aside from the supplies issue and confusing labeling (the bottom sticker even has smart31 in some areas) the printer is simple, easy, and fast. we were able to create a fillable pdf in the size and orientation of the card to quickly make new badges whenever needed without worrying about accidental design or word placement changes.

one of the main reasons i bought this was bc the idesigner (the editing software) was suppose to be free with the ourchase of the printer. it says compatible with mac os in the listing. well the printer is compatible with mac os but they dont have a version of idesigner thats compatible with mac os... what kind of company does some s*** like that... also they claim to have edge to edge printing but thats a lie...
