so sad with no redeeming features
Well written and interesting but so, so sad with no redeeming features. i really enjoyed the Narrow Road to the North where, underlying the horrors of the prisoner of war camp, there was a positive message about love but I did not find anything positive in Wanting and this has put me off reading more books by Flanagan

great read as usual with Flanagan
excellent book, still don't understand why the author used 2 separate stories very little related, personally I wished he had centred the entire text on the Tasmanian life and times around 1700-1800.Nevertheless he crafted his story very well and held the interest of the reader all the way.

and Flanagan creates a flowing narrative that's easy to follow but also isn't dumbed
This isn't the type of book I'd usually read, but I had to read it for one of my uni modules. It was actually really interesting, and Flanagan creates a flowing narrative that's easy to follow but also isn't dumbed down
