Coding for Kids: A Hands-on Guide to Learning the Fundamentals of How to Code Games, Apps and Websites (Learn to Code) Paperback – April 26, 2021

I'm pleasantly surprised at how easy the other explain coding in this book, although I think this book is more appropriate for teens or for adults with absolutely no coding experience like myself. Within the first few pages of introduction, I was able to finally understand what binary coding is and what a byte is. My only recommendation is to not call this a kids book but instead a teens book or coding for dummies, for example. I have kids ages 2 to 11, and I actually think this book is more appropriate for teenagers. I mean, my 11 year old would understand it, but perhaps at pictures or make it more entertaining if it is geared more for kids. Overall, I do really like this book as reference for myself since I'm level zero in coding language.

Great kids coding book. Definitely for kids already interested in learning though. Kid review for kiddo 1 that asked for it "not enough pictures". Perfect for a kid that's there to learn though.

This book was written to help get kids and others interested in programming through the use of games and apps. I was an HTML programmer years ago before there was software to help create web pages and have tried to encourage people to take up coding or computer science classes. Despite the income potential and job security generally found in this area, it is a challenge to get people interested. I appreciated the approach in this book which includes a vocabulary section along with a list of resources to get additional education but do not think it is for kids. Teens might get into this book, but it is rather dry and very technical from the get-go. It might help if there were physical examples or pictures of games and web pages before the coding starts in each chapter to lighten it up and make it more relatable.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I have always been interested in coding for myself and my children, so I was glad to come across this resource. I always assumed coding was like speaking and using another language, so using this book was helpful. The author made it easy to learn how to code some of my favorite kid games (snake and ping pong). He breaks down the different terminology for coding. Looking forward to more resources from this author.

Good for beginners including kids. I will try to use this for teaching my kids. It talks about web dev.

There is nothing kid friendly about this book. It reminds me of the school books I had in college getting my tech degree. Thumbs down!

The media could not be loaded. I am disappointed in the print quality of this book. The information so far is great but the quality of the printing press that produced the book is awful. Some of the writing on the pages is so light that I can barely read the words. The tables on some pages 40-83 and various others are too dark to read (other tables are ok). It’s obvious that it’s a poor print quality because you see the difference in pages as you flip through the book. I’m very disappointed because I really want to read this book and learn about coding.
