For the palest of pale
I love this product, but I'm also the palest person I know. It's barely a tan but it gives me just a bit of warmth after one use which on a cool-toned person like me is actually significant. If I use it multiple days in a row, it will start to look like a real tan but still a subtle one. Probably about half the intensity of a versaspa spray tan on the lightest setting (but for reference, those are usually too dark for me on the first day or two, so this is better).I wanted to post some info since I've been using this long term now and have noticed some things. First of all, I try to shake off a bit before applying as drips can cause some problems. Second, you have to be very careful about how much you rinse it off in the end. If I spend more than about 30 seconds rinsing, I will barely notice the tan the next day. I go really fast, and rub crevices and dry spots extra (knees, elbows, jawline, etc). Here's how I do it:1. Shower as usual and exfoliate dry areas with a washcloth if desired. Wring out the washcloth and set aside for later.2. Turn off shower, and shake off a bit so I'm not too drippy. I wring out and clip up my hair so it doesn't drip.3. I start with my legs and be sure to rub in a circular motion, just gently passing over my knees and feet as those can tend to pick up too much color (same for elbows). I then do my torso, then arms, then neck and face last. It really sucks if it gets in your eyes so be careful. I also brush gently over the tops of my hands towards the end.4. I use the wash cloth from earlier to clean my palms and fingers and then set a timer on my phone for the 3 minutes.5. Then I use the washcloth to blot my toes, the fronts of my ankles (weird but that spot always gets orange on me otherwise), and my elbows. Then I rub my stomach again in case bending over made any lines, and anywhere else i think may have dripped or needs blending. Then clean my hands again and wait, trying not to let my arms touch the rest of my body or sides of the shower too much.6. Try to keep your rinse-off time under 30 seconds, pat dry, and ideally go to bed wearing loose clothing if anything. I've noticed that bras and pant seams can rub and cause problems.I know this all seems like a lot, but I personally hate the feeling of waiting around for a spray tan to process as well as the feeling of the gradual lotions.. This takes some trial and error but if you're super pale and just want a little color, I'd consider giving it a try,Edit: It's about 1.5 years later and I'm still using this tanner. I now leave it on for 5 minutes instead of 3, and that makes a significant difference (for me the effects are basically doubled if I do this). In an ideal world I apply twice on the weekend, and then use the St. Tropez facial mist on my face/chest/shoulders throughout the week as needed.

- One huge plus is that the smell is not strong or bad. - As the product indicates
I've been using this product for a few weeks now and just ordered more.Pros:- One huge plus is that the smell is not strong or bad.- As the product indicates, its a gradual tan, but it hasn't yet made me look orange or fake tan. It looks very natural.- I don't love turning off the shower and waiting for three minutes while it sinks in, but I find this preferable to other self-tanners since I'm not staining my towels or clothes.- All self tanners are a pain to use, this one is only minimally annoying.Cons:- I originally read that you could use this product once or twice a week, but since realized you need to use 3-4 days in a row to see any difference. After using for a couple days of using everyday, once you have a glow, you can keep the tan by using once every 2-3 days, however the tan fades quickly if you aren't being consistent with upkeep.- You have to stand in the shower without the water on and wait 3 minutes for it to sink in.- You have to use a VERY generous amount of the lotion or it looks a little streaky. 1 bottle lasts me about 2-3 weeks using it every 2-3 days.

Definitely works, maybe a little too well
Tried it last night for the first time and followed other users recommendation of leaving on for more than 3 minutes. In the shower I exfoliated, shaved, then turned off the water and started applying this product. I applied it to my whole face and body and tried to lather up it in a way. If a single drop of water from my shower head got on me I would simply go back over that area. I had a washcloth to wipe off the excess on my hands, ankles, knees, toes, elbows. I stepped out of the shower for about 10 minutes after I applied this and it started drying the way a normal sticky self tanner does. Hopped back in the shower and only tried to rinse it off for 30 seconds at most per each body part. When I woke up today this product surprisingly worked well and gave me a nice sun kissed color that wasn’t as light as I thought it was going to be. It surprised me how much color I got in one session on my face and body. I actually had to scrub my hands with some salicylic acid to try and exfoliate the excess color that managed to stay there. Next time I use this when I hop out of the shower I’m going to wash my hands really well. All my other body parts and face got a good amount of color. All in all good product, easy to use, and best of all you don’t have to go through the staining your sheets part of self tanner. As I type this 9 hours after my shower I still do have the light smell of self tanner lingering around but this isn’t a big deal to me.

Not much color
I’ve used this about 5 times now. It’s somewhat inconvenient to have to turn off the shower, step out to wash palms with soap, and wait 3 minutes. But I’m willing to do it to get color on my skin without risk of skin cancer. However, I don’t see much of a change in skin tone when I use this. It says it will continue to darken for 8 hours, but I don’t see any change throughout the day. I have fair skin so I was looking for something that would give me realistic color (not orange-toned) and this does that. But it’s not dark enough. (Mine is labeled “Medium.”)

Surprised by this product
I'm a huge fan of St. Tropez self tanners. I've used several of the formulas and love each one- they are easy to apply and give me a natural-looking, long-lasting results. But this one is a swing and a miss. You have to apply it to wet skin in the shower, which is what I was looking for. I've tried the Jergens version and it was ok, but I was hoping for something with less of an odor and more of a natural look. But you have to leave this one on for 3 minutes, and then rinse it off. It's just an extra step and 3 minutes in the shower with no water feels like an hour. And then, I barely got any color at all, even with daily use. So I'll remain loyal to the brand, but not this formula.
