Picking up a Godhunter novel is like coming home! Back with a blast.
I only found this author earlier this year and just wow! I do most of my reading via Kindle Unlimited because reading is a mind bogglingly expensive pursuit or it is given the amount of reading I get through. I devoured the entirety of The Godhunter Series as well as the author’s other books in a little over a month, this book was similarly devoured over a 24hr period. It’s was such a breath of fresh air, picking up a Godhunter novel is like coming home and unwrapping a new adventure every time. It’s not by any means an easy ride for Vervain aka The Godhunter and I can’t even give you a list of her names/ titles because...spoilers. The first book in the series is free so you have nothing to lose. The author has written several series and some themes are repeated for example there are fairies in most but it’s not a case of once and done Amy Sumida has written a different version of the Fae Realm in each series. In doing so it’s possible to explore different traits, in Godhunter Faerie is made of elements earth, air, fire etc, in Twlight Faerie is made of Light, Dark and Twilight. Each series is also falls into the “Reverse Harem” genre, logical reasoning why is presented in each series. The female protagonists often struggle with their unusual reality in some cases like the Godhunter she has to struggle through some devastating hard times including kidnap, torture and abuse, in some instances (Books 4, 7) the content is horrifically dark and would probably be better served if they came with Trigger Warnings. It’s an incredible journey, often dark and sometimes monstrous but it’s definitely worth it. I’ve laughed and cried with these stories in equal measure and I’m glad that I did. When everything is said and done books are not just an entertainment they’re also a study of human nature the good and the bad. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with hoping for better and this author definitely delivers. Whilst each book has the obligatory explanation of Vervain’s circumstances of who and what she is you’ll enjoy it more if you start that journey at the beginning. I’ve read them all using Kindle Unlimited and I love them so much that I want to buy them.
