Let It Grow

Subject matter:This book is equally about patience and about the fun rewarding discoveries that are made because of it. I actually did not guess the ending of this book at all! I had no idea that pumpkins could be {***SPOILERS***} raced like that! And it made me really excited to find out more about it in the back matter. {***END SPOILERS***}What a cute, clever book with an unexpected ending about a subject I had never heard of! If it engaged an adult like me (a wannabe picture book author), it is easy to see how it would fire up the imaginations of kids. Great back matter! And the writing was solid. I loved the repetition of "let it grow" as we explored each part of this pumpkin's life.Illustrations:Great! Loved the muted colors of the background and the gorgeous use of textures throughout! Very expressive characters and interesting perspective use to keep the images engaging. That was probably pretty tricky to do since most of the story takes place in the same location, watching the vine grow. So awesome work there keeping the flow and interest high!Overall:Great! Unexpected. Not a cliche gardening book like you might think at a glance. Fun!

Wonderful book to read with young children to encourage their love of nature and growing things.Follows a young child as he comes to realize how important waiting is as he learns about the growing cycle of a giant pumpkin. This is a children's book that I read to my twin boys. This is a cute and fun book great for younger kids (Pre-k to about 1st grade). I have to say both my boys loved this book. The pictures was so good, and I loved the fact it talks about letting a seed grow/pumpkin. I will have to buy this book as soon as it comes out. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.
