Lovely combo of outdoors appreciation and Mandarin learning
The media could not be loaded. I LOVE THIS BOOK! The vibrant colors and soft lines blend nicely to convey how nature would feel, and the story itself reflects the simple but beautiful curiosities of a child. Why the enthusiasm, you ask?1. I love hikes and walks and am part Chinese, so having a storybook that’s both bilingual AND outdoorsy is PERFECT! Children can learn Mandarin and develop an appreciation for nature at the same time.2. This has a good number of vocabulary words that can be learned on their own. Lots of early learning Mandarin resources present vocab words in cutesy ways, like “little bunny 小兔” instead of just “rabbit 兔子” etc., and this book is the latter. As a language teacher, I personally prefer this.3. It features a mixed-race family, which reflects my own and many peoples’ families too.4. Did I mention that it’s bilingual? Plus it rhymes in both English and Mandarin! If, like me, you’ve spent a good chunk of your childhood outdoors exploring nature, and hope to encourage that fascination among (your own) children, then this book will be a treat.

Great for families and encouraging language learning
This book is fabulous for bilingual families but also for encouraging language learning because it has English, chinese characters and pinyin as well. My husband and I studied Mandarin for 10 years before our son was born and this is a great book to read with him as we work to teach him. Illustrations are so beautiful and I love the story, encouraging outdoor play. Thanks for this! Can’t wait to read more books by this wonderful author.

Wonderful addition to our home library.
This is a wonderful book. It is beautifully illustrated. My son (7) is learning Chinese as a second language at school and can read pinyin. He reads this story to his little sister in both English and Chinese. It’s great to find a book that has a good story with full translations. I highly recommend.

Beautiful book with fun rhyme in 2 languages
We are a big fan of Katrina Liu's books, and this one is one of our favorites! It showcases a mixed-family and encourages love of nature with impressive fun rhyme in both Mandarin and English. As non-native speakers, we appreciate the pinyin that is included in the book to allow us to read it together as a family.

Adorable illustrations & Storyline
The illustrations and story are so fun to read that we bought another copy to gift to our child's Mandarin immersion class. Love reading this together with my little one as a bedtime story. We will be bringing this book along on our road trip!

Love this bilingual book!
My daughter (3) loves this book -- and the whole Mina series also by Katrina Liu. We usually read them more than once per sitting: one time in English, another by listening to it in Mandarin and following along, and then another where we repeat after the recording to practice our speaking skills. These books are fun and so helpful for integrating language in a fun way (especially for a mom who doesn't speak fluently!). Highly recommend!

Issues with translation, one page was ripped
The Chinese translation was clearly more or less Google translated from English without nuance. Several phrases in the book would not be spoken by native Chinese speakers in normal conversation. Also, I found a half inch rip on page 4.

Very bad Chinese
I love the illustration, but the Chinese is so bad, a lot of gramma and logical problem. You guys need to rewrite it.

Love it!
My daughter loves this book, it’s a cozy adventure for bedtime story and always reminds us of our hike in the woods together. It’s a wonderful book learning how to read Chinese in PinYin, a great addition to our book collection!

Chinese translation is bad
Not very good sentence in Chinese. I feel awkward to read it to my son as a native spearker.
