Explosive (The Houston Defiance MC Series Book 1)

Explosive is just that! It starts right off in your face with action paced drama that grabs you and draws you into the story. Zero has to take over too early because of an attack that takes not only his father who was the President but his mother as well. He not only has to deal with the MC but what is left of his family as well. He and Rayne connect when he goes to bring his siblings home. Prinie tells him about her friend Rayne and when he goes to check on her, Zero is drawn to her and their path will begin. It is one that is filled with dangerous twists and turns. Will they be able to come out on the other side in one piece and will their path lead them finally two the happiness they both deserve?

This story was pretty good. Not the greatest, but I am going to read the second book. I need to know more about Princess & Wraith. Round of applause for the refinery scene at the end. Chuck got what he earned!!

The start of a series. Ends on a slight cliffhanger to tease the next story (not related to the HFN of Zero and Rayne. While this is darker themed, I really like that it is an ongoing series with an overarching theme and that there are multiple additions to the series available now through KU or for purchase. Yeah! I am mentioning these for readers such as myself that visualize the story as it is read, because errors interrupt the flow.The world building in the start of this series is strong. The characters are unique, strong and feisty. I love having the story told from both POV, because it just brings everything to life. The chemistry between Zero and Rayne is so good, just wished that someone could do to “Up Chuck” what he did to her times 10 …In this story, Zero becomes the new President of the Defiance MC in Houston, Texas after his dad is killed by a rival MC during their latest war. Afterwards, his two siblings ran away to Chicago. When Zero gets things settled, the club takes a road trip to bring them home.In the interim, Zero’s sister Prinie befriended Rayne, an abused woman she met when Rayne called for an Uber. Over the course of time they have grown close, so when Prinie agrees to come home she doesn’t want to leave without saying goodbye. When they arrive Rayne’s spouse has just left and she is in bad shape. Zero’s protective instincts kick in right away. He wants to bundle her up and take care of her, but he is the President of an outlaw MC and she is married … to a cop.Oh, boy … buckle up buttercup, the ride could get really bumpy

The story was okay but it got to a point where I started skipping just to finish the book. Won’t read the next one.

All I have to say is that I regret waiting so long to read this book. It’s been on my TBR for a very long time. I should have read it sooner! I LOVE MC romances and this was perfect!

I love how Rayne is full of surprises the entire length of the book. I enjoy the way that the mc are family and the way they accept changes. It’s a pleasure to read this series. And what a cliffhanger!!! I need to know what happens.

Zero was the VP of THDMC, until his father was murdered. This pushed him into the role as President.. Zero thought he still had time to learn, but it seems fate has other plans for him. Rayne is a battered wife who thinks she has no way of escaping. A chance encounter with her UBER driver is all it takes for her to have faith. Prime, UBER driver, is the younger sister of Zero. When Zero comes to town to bring his family home, he saves the life of Rayne, by bringing her with his family. This was a slow burn type of read. There is a newness to the MC, loyalties are changed, and there is threat coming from two different areas. Zero is trying to make headway with his sister and brother by showing them stability, and strength.. Zero is also trying to figure out his attraction to Rayne. The MC brothers are solid where the club is concerned, but have their own individual struggles. This book was a good starting out book. As always, KE Osborn, rocks an MC!

An invigorating, suspenseful and sizzling hot romance. The moment Zero meets Rayne his world flips upside down. There were so many things happening with the club. Amongst all the chaos these two find something neither of them were expecting. Their chemistry is palpable, their banter is witty but the friendship and deep connection they developed with undeniable. I enjoyed this story.

This author is new to me but after reading this, I am eager to check out more! This was a fantastic MC romance. It was great balance of grit and guys who will do anything for the MC family. The character development is really great and the storyline kept you flipping. Rayne and Zero have fabulous chemistry. Both have some major baggage and take time to figure themselves out but they are perfect for one another. Great MC read.

Well written with the absolute great knack of being able to place the scene so well and clearly. It was an easy book to get into and perfect for keeping you gripped and continuing reading chapter after chapter. It was also easy to believe in all of the characters especially Zero and his Cherry bomb. I have no problem recommending this book book with ease now to start the next book.

4.5 STARS!Found myself a brand new new-to-me MC romance author! I loved reading Explosive. It was gripping from start to finish! There's a perfect balance of MC elements and romance within the story.A steady paced storytelling, and told from dual POVs. There’s a lot going on in Houston Defiance MC with drama, trouble and angst at every corner. It’s an action-packed storyline — one that sets up the introduction to this series in a strong way.Besides the brotherhood between the members, I enjoyed seeing the friendships that developed between the women in this world. It’s also a nice contrast to an otherwise male-driven environment. I love that they are cared for, protected and respected by the MC but that these ladies can hold their own!There’s a good amount of character development. You not only see the lead characters, but the secondary ones as well have backstory that gives you insight into who they are and how they’ve come to be now in the present. There’s a few secondary characters I’m already vying to see more of in this series.Whilst this is a work of fiction and a romance story at that, I haven’t forgotten that Zero and Rayne’s story centers around a realistic, relatable and very serious topic. There’s some lighthearted banter here and there to break the intensity, but what makes an MC romance a winner for me besides the hero/ heroine, is the substance of the story. Zero and Rayne grow and evolve, and there’s a purpose to their actions.I really can’t say enough great things about this book. It keeps you on your toes with suspense. I think fellow MC and dark romance readers will get a kick out of it. It’s one that’ll have you reeling about for days on end.But please keep in mind that this story focuses on sensitive subject matter that may trigger some readers. It contains detailed violence, domestic abuse and contains mentions of drugs.Overall, a spectacular MC romance that I would highly recommend! Wasn’t a love but really did enjoy reading it again much like K E Osborn books nothing happens the whole book and then it kicks off in the last 3 pages or so… hoping the series will get better as I read on like Chicago did!

This was a very good book. There was lots of action and even lots of emotions to follow. Looking forward to reading the next in this series.
