Accurate?
Not sure how accurate it is. I bought this thermometer because the thermometer that came with with my deep fryer seemed to be off because when I last fried a turkey it wasn't cooked completely in the allotted time even though I've fried dozens of turkeys over the years. Anyway, I fried a turkey today and I used this thermometer and the old one. At first there was about a 25 degree difference and it the difference got larger as the oil heated up. When this thermometer read 350 the other one read 400. I figured that was the problem, but in seconds it jumped up 50 degrees, to show a higher temperature than the other thermometer. I cannot recommend this gauge because of the sudden jump in temperature.

Not accurate enough for candy
I compared this to a known good candy thermometer and it was way off.Perhaps it is good enough for other cooking purposes.

Description is not accurate
Heading says Taylor 3522 TruTemp Series Candy/Deep Fry Analog Dial Thermometer with 9" Stem.I ordered 2 of these specifically because I wanted 9 inch stems. I also ordered another model with a 12 inch stem for my deep turkey fry pan. Now I have 3 with 12 inch stems. Don't advertise as a 9 inch stem if it is 12 inches. I haven't used it as I may return. I gave 3 stars because I believe it's important to accurately describe the item I'm looking at purchasing.

Inaccurate - by a lot.
There is a reason this is so inexpensive...Brand new - I tested it in boiling water at sea level. Expected it to read 212F. Nope, not even close - 160F.I tested it again while making candy, and again it was way off. Two other thermometers read 305F, and it was reading 245F.I didn't bother to return it - just threw it out.

Not for candy
This is not a candy thermometer. I was hoping it would work the same as one, because it’s not as fragile, but it does not gauge temperature accurately for candy-making.

Great Thermometer, Bad Clip
I would give this product 5 stars if the clip that comes with the thermometer worked better with medium sized pots. On the one hand, the thermometer itself is very useful, but when the clip gives up and the thermometer flips around, and you need to catch and reposition it in the 410-degree pot of oil you are working with, your heart can skip a few beats.

A Must Have For Pastry Making
It is accurate, long for safety use, and good quality. It helps users keep the right oil frying temperature so pastries do not become to crisp around the edges while frying. Thank you
