The app asks for too many permissions.
The app asks for the following permissions:device and app history (not needed by kasa)identity (not needed by kasa)contacts (not needed by kasa)locationphotos/media/filescamera (not needed by kasa)wifi connection infodevice ID and call infoWhy does it need all those permissions?Update: I lowered my review to 1 star because this company won't stop asking me to change my review. They also told me that it works with homekit, but that doesn't appear to be true. Someone says they returned one because it didn't work with homekit.

Needs phone number to use the app. Bad!
I was excited to get this little plug, but upon receiving it I had to provide my phone number to create an account. Even further, I did not find any terms of agreement or anything in the nature of why they needed my phone number and how it's used. Coming from a Chinese companh with a weird looking app in the App Store I had really bad feeling about this. I returned the product.

Nice design and functionality; no Alexa, HomeKit support; setup is a bit wonky
Nice design and overall functionality is great. It works as advertised. I love being able to remotely control the plugs from anywhere in the world, whether I'm at home or out and about. As long as I have a data or internet connection on my phone, I can easily turn the smart plugs on and off.Pros:- nice, minimal design- LED indicator lights (blue, pink) look nice and aren't overly bright- app functionality works well -- easy to turn on and off, set scenes for multiple plugs, set timers, etcCons:- no support for Alexa, HomeKit, etc -- you must use their app to interface with the plugs- confusing initial setup -- make sure your phone is connected to a 2.4ghz wifi network during setup (see below for a tip)- the app needs your phone number to work -- I don't see a privacy policy anywhere as to how and why the phone number is used in connection with the smart plugsTip: the plug runs only on 2.4ghz networks, so you have to connect your phone to a 2.4ghz wifi network and set each plug up first. Then you can reconnect your phone to a faster 5ghz wifi or cellular network and control the plugs remotely. In other words, you don't have to be connected to a 2.4ghz network for your phone to control these devices once they're set up.

Love it....all 6 of them!
Initially bought 4 of them for my Midwest home. Easy to set up with the app (mine is Android). Did have a problem when I unplugged one and moved it to another location. Instructions weren't much help, but I figured it out. It's really important to make sure your initial setup is done close to the router. Once everything is set up, it's neat. Turning a socket on and off is instantaneous. There is a built in timer function in the app where you can have a socket turn on and off at selected times on any set of days you choose. Bought another two for my Florida home. From my Florida home, I turn on a socket for my Midwest home, and by the time I bring up my security cameras on my phone, the light is already on. Instantaneous from 5 states away. Neat. Was away for Beggars Night, so I made sure the sockets were remotely turned off.

Fits my purpose
I bought 1, liked it and bought 3 more. Easy to install. Just plug in socket with smart phone nearby. It will start app install, ask for wifi password then be ready to use. With additional sockets it's easier since your wifi info is already saved. You have to plug something into the wifi socket and it's controlled from your smartphone. If I'm away from my home and it's night, I turn on whichever plugged in wifi socket I choose so house isn't dark when I arrive. I've controlled my lights remotely from other states. I live up north and controlled my lights from Florida. So random lights going on and off at my choosing appears as if someone is home. So far so good.

Hard to install. How do I turn it off from 100 miles away?
Wanted to put my Xmas tree on a timer. But I can't get the plug to work. It says I have to sign up on a 2.4 ghx wifi?? I'm with ATT so it's higher then that. The instruction are in broken English and don't explain what to do. I keep going round and round with putting in my wifi password but then it says to go to setup WLAN and pick their wifi which is not listed as an option. Can some one help me fix this?Got it working!! Took plug upstairs near router and phone. The third time when I put in my routers password it said setting it up. I put tree on timer but today I left for vacation and wanted to turn it off. Couldn't do it in drive way or up state.

Tricky set up, but overall great.
Really nice product, especially for the price. To set it up, you need a really strong wifi signal. After repeated attempts to connect the device to my wifi (with the router only about 10 feet away), I plugged it in closer to my router (about 1 foot away), and it finally connected. Then I just unplugged it and moved it to the outlet where I originally wanted it. I wish the instructions were a little more clear on this, but once you get it set up, it's great!

Terrible written instructions make this difficult to setup.
The instructions are terrible (obviously poorly translated to English from another language) and don't make sense. The wi-fi setup for the app would not connect, so I gave up and wrote a bad review. The seller emailed me with instructions for getting the wi-fi to connect and I finally got it connected. Now this product does work, but the instructions and setup is not easy.

Better to use Tuya Smart as application
The seller finaly proposed an application that does not ask for permission to make phone calls nor my position. With "Tuya Smart" (2.4g WiFi only), no special permission are required and as for now, the device seem to function well.
