much more secure, better lid, hinge & lock design - worth the extra money.the HEAVY bolts make it much more secure than the alternative bestop (which uses self tapping sheet metal screws in plastic).

I have a 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.This thing is well made and secure, but to me there is one BIG problem. If you are purchasing this with the idea of securing a handgun, or many larger items, look elsewhere. Unless you are carrying a compact gun, your gun will NOT fit in this. A standard size 9mm with a 4" barrel would not fit. There is a small tray on the inside that Tuffy calls an iPod/Coin/Pen tray that takes up way too much valuable space. And for some brilliant reason, Tuffy decided to weld this tray into place, instead of making it removable. There is zero reason this should be welded in place, very bad design. Good luck trying to cut it out at home, as it is 14 gauge steel and you probably don't have the proper tools to remove it. I had to drill out around 20 holes, then take a cold chisel to it in order to knock the rest off. Then had to grind the leftover jagged edges with a grinder. Then sand it and repaint the inside to protect against rust. Way too much work to get rid of a piece that should be removable.I emailed Tuffy to ask if they sold a version with a removable tray, and they don't. So I joked with the guy that I would have to drill it out, which he then proceeded to tell me would VOID THE WARRANTY! Oh well, rather be able to secure my goods, than have the warranty!Disappointed...

This thing is built like a bomb shelter. Install is insanely easy, the optional bolt holes (yes, you want to install these) are a trick if you don't have a low profile drill but you can always mark the inside of the console and use a hot nail to melt some of the plastic until the location can be seen from outside. From there it's an easy job for a 3/8 bit to carve through. Once the trim is back in place you can't even tell anything has changed, just the way I want it!As you would guess from my opening line, the console itself is extremely sturdy and everything feels very secure.Side note: You do loose your console tray but the insert has a small trough to store keys and other small items, frankly, I won't miss the tray and the added security of being able to leave wallet, phone, w/e when out on a ride or hike is well worth that.

Fit was great. Install takes a bit of doing especially if you are going to install the optional bolts (you really should) I had a 90* drill and with the suggested drill bit size it simply wouldn't fit in the console to drill the whole. I ended up using a tiny bit to drill a pilot hole then drilled the final size from the outside. This thing is built sturdy it would be a huge pain for someone trying to get into it. I really like the way the latch is built.

Installed in my 2013 Jeep Wrangler JKU and fit like a charm! Nice security feature for the Jeep. A little tricky getting the holes marked off to bolt into the rear of the console but that has nothing to do with the product just working inside the console is tight space. You do loose the small flip container on the inside top of the console but no biggy. Had it installed in about 20 mins.

Simple to instal and a great fit. Keeps my handgun secure.

Super easy install.The added security bolts are a snap to install with some additional tools.Extremely good quality materials and hardware used.Incredibly accurate fit considering this is bent and welded sheet steel.The hole for the USB port and 12v outlet are perfect and very well thought out.The 12v outlet provision has an elongated hole to make up for the fact that the metal isn't going to bend to accommodate the unit fitting into the center console space. -someone actually looked at this! So cool.The USB port hole is spot-on, although there is some additional depth when plugging stuff in.While I don't see it being a problem it was something that I noted.The little shelf space by the USB hole is perfect as the USB port and any cables or flash drives sticking out of it are now well protected from being accidentally struck when accessing the center console. I put a swiveling USB extension in there and it seems to be just perfect now.Almost deducted a star for the loss of the smaller console storage space and the fact that the torx screw heads are left exposed by the modification. I'm handy enough that I'll be fabricating some sort of filler piece for the area.The loss of that smaller compartment is made up for by the additional security and the fact that this thing is just so darn well made and that Tuffy matched the keys with the glove box I purchased.
