I need to replace an older skytech remote. Do I need to also replace the receiver?

Typically its best to replace both and buy the kit but you can certainly buy just the receiver if your remote is in good working condition.  The new receiver would have a pin hole "pairing" option to learn the existing remote control to if you choose. had a receiver burn up and need replacing, know there are different types, need it to work with what was on it, receiver was a model UN3,

I've spoken to Skytech customer support as I had the exact same question. The Model "UN3" is not a unique part number, and you can't just buy the receiver package with that part number. The UN3 is part of a package, which I believe is part # SKY-MRCK. I hate how the manufacturer doesn't label the receiver with a part number that can be traced and purchased, at least for a consumer. The assumption is you are working through a dealer. At any rate, I tried using the 1001-A receiver/remote, and it would not work on our gas logs (old receiver was labeled UN3). Your mileage may vary, just trying to lend my .02.

The description says it comes with remote transmitter and receiver.  the picture only shows the remote.  does it come with both?
