STOP USING THIS NOW
I do not often write reviews. You could have asked me a year ago and I would have expressed how much I LOVED this product. I was using the entire product line. The No poo cleanser, conditioner, ultra defining hair gel, the hair towel, the list goes on. I was noticing more and more hair falling out and unexplained breakage. I thought maybe it was hair dryer, using regular towels, etc. I went earlier this month for a hair cut and color and my hair dresser was dumbfounded. She said it looks like my hair was shredded from end to root in so many spots. She talked me through my entire hair regimen including the fact I have been using biotin daily. When she asked what hair products I used she GASPED when I said DeVaCurl and immediately turned me in the chair and told me to throw it ALL away. She showed me that all over her Hair Stylist forums were pictures and chat threads of how this is ruining clients hair causing major breakage and fallout. This is a product I swore by for years. Not sure if something happened in the formula last year but it has completely ruined my hair. I am devastated that I had to chop most of it off making it the shortest I have had it and am now nursing my hair back to health. I feel silly now that 2 weeks into a different product my hair no longer comes out in my hands in the shower. I ignored the signs too long and I hope others don't fall victim to the same thing. Just google it and do your research as it was all over the news in February.

causes hair to break and fall out
I've been using this product for a few years because it was recommended by my stylist as good for keeping my color from fading. And it has been excellent for that. However, around the same time I started noticing my hair falling out in alarming amounts. I decided it was related to coloring my hair and getting older and kept washing with Deva Curl. My hair kept falling out; I switched to coloring just the tips of my hair. My hair kept falling out; I decided it was my age.Nope. Deva Curl. An acquaintance pointed out that there have been numerous complaints about Deva Curl, so I stopped using it in March. My hair is no longer falling out in alarming amounts. I can't say with 100% certainty it's the shampoo, but the anecdotal evidence is enough for me to never use it again and to write an Amazon review suggesting others check out the claims as well.Clenditioner by Keracolor works just as well for cleaning, has purple depositing pigments, and isn't making my hair fall out.

Not the same as the product I purchased from the salon.

Doesn't work at all like the old DevaCurl
I got a sample pack of this and it worked great. My hair never looked better. Knowing that it would work on my hair I ordered large bottles of the shampoo and conditioner. Within a week of using it my hair was frizzy and dry. I kept using it thinking it was the weather. A month later my hair was damaged enough that my hair dresser was even asking wtf I was doing with my hair. A quick google and it seems like I'm not the only one having these problems because DevaCurl apparently changed the recipe but isn't telling people. I wrote off what I found by googling and continued using it for another month. Boy was that a mistake. My hair just kept getting worse. I wouldn't recommend it if you like your hair even if you had success with past DevaCurl products. I switched to Shea Moisture and my hair is slowly coming back to life.

Would never buy DC again!!
Returned. Had a TON of hair loss and breakage using this product. This is my second bottle and I returned quickly when I saw FB group of ppl with e same problems w/DC products. I’ve stopped using, had a major chop, and now see new hair growth after 4 months of using another brand.

will never return to "regular" shampoo
A friend of mine from law school put me on the Deva Curl probably about 5 years ago. We were on the train heading home form class one evening and she just started going in on me for not using the proper hair care products for the type of hair I had. I had never even thought much about what I was washing or conditioning my hair with, I just knew I wasn't about to be using no suave or garnier fructis (at the time, the whole no sulfates or parabans in hair care products wave hadn't really set in fully yet). Those were the products I thought were bad or "wrong" for my hair. Turns out that even if you get higher quality and/or more expensive products, you lose the value that you've put in to your purchase if those products weren't made for the type of hair you have. DevaCurl really does everything right when it comes to addressing this issue, which is certainly an issue many people have and don't even realize it. I absolutely loved this "shampoo" - though DevaCurl makes a distinct point (see their website, marketing, etc) in letting people know this is NOT a shampoo. Though they make that distinction, they recognize it is in fact a hair cleanser aka it cleans the hair, which is what people believe shampoo does so in functionality and purpose, it is basically a shampoo. I believe the intent of DevaCurl making that distinction is a marketing strategy used by the company to attempt to distance themselves from what we know shampoo to be today, which would be stripping hair of its natural oils, lots of suds, lots of scrubbing, lathering and washing the ends and lengths of the hair directly with the product. All of those things are not at all recommended by DevaCurl curl expects and is not how you are supposed to be using their products either. I suggest going to the Deva Curl website and taking the curl test to know which products the company itself recommends for your hair type as that is a very important part of finding the right products to bring your hair to its fullest potential. Though the prices on Amazon are actually identical to the products sold on DevaCurl's own company website, you can sometimes find a deal from a seller who fulfills orders thru Prime. Then again, DevaCurl will at times have sales on their websites as well so I suggest just checking both prior to purchasing.

Great, keeps healthy oils
Love this shampoo and will never go back to sulphate now. Just know that yiu have to work a bit harder at wahsing your hair bc no foam... So will use more than a sulfate shampoo. But in the end my curls are lively and my hair not dried out.

teleurstellend
Nu is mijn haar gewoon lastig. Ik krijg dor haar van producten waar anderen bij zweren. Maar heb je lastig haar zoals ik: deze shampoo is niet sterk genoeg voedend voor echt dorstig haar!

Scent not the same
I bought the no-poo shampoo and the conditioner together with the gel and the spray thinking is the original smell and quality products I have enjoyed in the past. They are not. The shampoo smells different than the original scent , the conditioner a completely other scent (!) and the only scent that is the real one is on the spray Deva Curl Set it free. The defining gel is like water and nothing like the smell or the quality I am used to having with this product.I wonder if they are the real products..Unfortunately I was too busy at work and didn't return the products so now I am stuck with them.

Good
Very good for colored hair. I hav professionally done multi colored hair (greens, blues, pinks etc) and many shampoos you will see your color just wash right out with every shampoo. This product saves your hair color. Ive used many different brands, this works best imo!
