Afar White 20" 24 Speed Dual Derailleur System Drive Family Foldable Tandem Bicycle

It is the first time I own and will ride a tandem bike. The unique feature is the fold ability for transport, nevertheless the handling requires some strength, the seat probably should be rethought because the tendency is to lift the bike from the seat and had to replace a screw. Still pending convincing my wife to ride, at least my son is taking his girlfriend on board.

I previously owned a Green Zone folding tandem, it was heavy, cheap and components are low quality. I replaced it with this Afar tandem and the build and quality is 100% better. The method of folding is the same as a Brompton (rear wheel swings under the frame, the front of frame folds in half). By removing the seat posts, I can place it in our Nissan Sentra trunk quite easily without removing the wheels. It rides very nice and the rear shock makes for a comfortable ride for the rear passenger. Rear derailleur shifts easily and the relatively low step-over height makes it easier to mount the front seat. I had to replace the hard factory seats with more comfortable ones and it was easy to add fenders. The wife and I enjoy several hour rides around the bay on this bike, it's gotten lots of use this summer! Not built for long distance high-speed tours, but for an enjoyable day biking around for two people, this bike fits the bill.
