Great Book and excellent used book seller!
Firstly, the book seller, VikaSP, sent me my book seven days faster then promised and also sent me a “very good” book for an excellent price. I will definitely buy more used books from VikaSP in the future! The book, The Alzheimer’s Prevention & Treatment Diet, is well written and very informative. Alzheimer’s does not run in my family, however, I want to make sure I am doing everything I can to keep my brain healthy. This book is a great start! I 100% recommend this book.

Must-read book!!!
Truly a must-read for anyone concerned about Alzheimer's prevention, or someone looking for more answers for a loved one diagnosed with the disease. Written in an easy to understand format, this book offers such a comprehensive and sound approach to diet and general health and provides essential information. Our grandmother was diagnosed 4 years ago and this is the most up-to-date and helpful book I've read. For me, I know I'm doing everything I can to protect my brain (as best as we can) and have a plan going forward. There is so much new research supporting the positive effect of diet on your mind and well-being, and this book really pinpoints this important but often overlooked connection. I highly recommend this book and am appreciative to have read it.

Good information for Alzheimer's Sufferers and Their Support Team/Family
There is a lot of information packed in this book, to be sure. The author does a good job of explaining the research, etc. There are sample menus I find helpful, as well as a meal planner to work through as you begin implementing the diet. It's a nice approach, because you was your way into the diet over the course of several weeks instead of just kissing goodbye forever your favorite foods. I personally find reading about nutrition to be dry, but I think the author made it as interesting as you can make dietary research.

Doable and hopeful
So little encouragement on the Alzheimer's scene. This book supplies a way to fight the feeling of inevitability. The diet and activities are doable. We are in early stages of implementing so can't comment on results.

Excellent book to read for people over 45
Excellent book to read for people over 45. The book gives answers to questions like how to prevent, avoid, and even turn around this beastly symptom that is so real for so many. I learned so much, that when I shared it with my husband, who is practically paranoid about getting Alzheimer'sat age 81, that he read most of the book. Thanks to this book, we're both committed to follow the suggested prevention treatments, like healthy eating, exercise, weight training, and walking, among others. Highly recommend this book to anyone at any age concerned about reducing weight and changing to a healthier lifestyle.

Diet doesn't seem realistic
This book offers a wealth of information about things we all can do to reduce our risk of Alzheimers. As someone with 2 copies of APOE4, I appreciated that the author discussed how genetics impacts your chances of getting this disease and even pointed out things unique to APOE4 like the fact that Omega3s are even more beneficial if you have the APOE4 variant like myself. I also learned that regular cardio and strength training cuts your risk in half! The diet is built on low carb and high protein foods. Dr Isaacson recommends lots of protein, about 1 gram per pound of bodyweight and no more than 120 grams of carbs. He makes a sound case for why we should use this as a guideline in our eating habits. He offers lots of scientific evidence to back up his claims. Now, if you're a petite, 5'5 female programmer then this diet isn't too hard to adhere to but if you're a big, burly, 6'5 construction worker who does hard physical labor all day then you're going to have a really tough time with this diet. The construction worker is going to require far more calories each day than the programmer and those extra calories have got to come from protein because he'll blow through his tight carb budget in no time. Now he's just shoveling in lean chicken and eggs to stay satiated. The only other solution is to restrict calories and be hungry. So much protein can create kidney stones and raise cholesterol. Its frustrating that the protein requirement is weight based yet the carb limit is fixed.I ate a whole food plant based diet with fatty fish thrown in before I discovered this book. I eat little processed food. I have no problem avoiding sweets and ultraprocessed and packaged foods yet I exceeded my carb limit daily when following the diet the book recommends. I particularly enjoy lentils, chickpeas and whole grain pasta. These things are not off limits on the diet but your portion sizes need to be really small. For example, you can eat a cup of whole grain pasta and thats really pushing the limit. You don't realize how small a cup of pasta is until you cook it and pour it into a measuring cup.An important component of any diet is you have to be able to adhere to it long term and I think many people are going to be unable to do that with this diet. I'll probably try the MIND diet as I think it allows for more food that I enjoy and just generally grants you more flexibility. I'll likely incorporate things I learned from this book though such as fasting and using cocoa flavanol

Very thorough, practical, and easy-to-understand.
I saw Dr. Isaacson on Dr. Oz and decided to order his book. It is the second book I've read on the subject, and his explanations are very clear and his recommendations very doable. I will keep this book always close at hand for timely reference.
