Happy End of the World

I bought this CD used for a college class. It was in perfect condition! I was surprised and really appreciated that since I ended up loving the CD. As an American we don't get much music similar to this and it was very different but definitely very enjoyable.

A friend of mine had this tape in college. I eventually purchased the CD and put it on my IPod. It's really fun, a little quirky, and, well, you can preview it online if you have any more doubts.

If you're ever feeling down, depressed, manic, suicidal... Don't take a Paxil. Don't make an appointment with your psychotherapist. Simply insert this CD in your player and you'll be instantly transformed into a happy-go-lucky, dancing, la-la-singing, contented human. This is my all-time favourite P5 album. Every single track is a 10. The sound is lush, the mix crackles with energy, and you'll find it hard to keep from trying to sing along with the transliterated Japanese lyrics. "Nanimo na-i!!!!"The Pizzicato Five, like the B-52s, are all about happiness and the positive aspects of existence. Neither band ever has a morose song in their mix. No broken hearts; no blues. Every tune on this CD is uplifting, fun, crazy, and delivered with a sonic Esquivel-esque stereo hi-fi blast that hits you over the head and makes you dizzy with its delirious beats. It's positively one of my most-treasured possessions. I think I've listened to it over 100 times so far.If there's any sadness to be had, it's that the P5 have been broken up for seven years now and there's nothing new to come. But with their prolific output (16 albums, I believe, in all), there's plenty to play and replay and ENJOY!Being a student of Korean, I was surprised to see "Pizzicato Five" rendered in gorgeous Korean Hangul on the cover. Funny thing is: There's a TYPO! Hangul has no "F" or "V" sounds, so they're approximated with "HW" and "BUH" respectively. Those two sounds are correct, but the middle character combination should be "I", not "MI". The way it's written, it says "Pijicato (Korean has no "Z" sound either) Hwamibuh"! Could this, like "Engrish" be an example of "Japorean"? Maybe it's just a square-ish designed font.So, if you're having a bad day, not feeling quite up to par, want to end it all-- Don't pop a pill; pop in the P5! You'll be glad you did!Arigato! We love you!

Sometimes it's nice to let go of the pressures of life and don a smile for awhile. Step out into the warm sunshine and allow Pizzicato Five to whisk you away to the happy end of the world. This Japanese duo endeavors to brighten your day by serving up a platter of shamelessly cheerful melodies. Nomiya Maki lends her pretty voice to Konishi Yasuharu's lively drum breaks, synths, organs, harps, and whimsical assortment of samples. Lyrics for most songs are provided along with their English translations.Several songs on this album are really fun and worthwhile, but some others aren't so great. "Porno 3003" is a long three-part skip track whose words are not divulged in the liner notes, probably because the whole thing sounds embarrassingly like a narrated sexual encounter. But with tunes like "It's a Beautiful Day", "The Earth Goes Around", "Mon Amour Tokyo", and "Happy Ending", it's hard to fault these merry musicians. Dancing a fine line between insipid cheesiness and carefree bliss, Pizzicato Five has put forth a good effort on a record that's more hit than miss.

Hello everyone! I am a major fan of P-5 and own almost all of their stuff. I just can't find some of their imports(certain ones however). This album was released domestically 'cause around 1998 p-5 was becoming more known on a sub-pop level. I highly recommend this so you can say to yourselves after listening to it, that P-5 has such better tracks other than "TWIGGY,TWIGGY VS. JAMES BOND" which became so trendy and mainstream(Oh God!). The 1st CHARLIE'S ANGELS movie utilized this at the japanese party scene and everytime I'd see supermodels struttin' their stuff on that damn catwalk they would be playing it in the background. I was like thinking can't they use another of P-5's songs instead!!! I bet even P-5(which I'm sorry to say has broken since 2001 if I'm not mistaken),was thinking that. I'd love to find this on vinyl/record if one even exists as I have a stereo record player; which I think all of you should invest into buying one. So sit back and enjoy this gem- that's what I do! I especially like track #'s 1 through 6; I listen to them over and over. Plain and simple, just try to get your hands on any of P-5's stuff- even all of the only japanese albums- you'll be pleasantly surprised! P-5 started out in the late 80's('round 1988) w/ three guys- of one being the lead singer. I have 3 albums from that period; they are as follows: "ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE"... Oh nuts, I can't remember the other 2 titles at the moment. I hope I have helped U prospective buyers a little- good luck- JULIUS-ALLAN

This was my first Pizzicato Five CD that I ever owned. About 4 monts before I got this CD for my birthday I had discovered Pizzicato Five. And I have to say that this was a good first CD for me. If you are curious about Pizzicato Five and want to try out your first CD, this one is a good one to start with (especially if you don't speak Japanese). It has a lot of great songs, and it is a good mix of English and Japanese Music. And for those of you who don't speak Japanese, the CD comes with a mini-translation booklet so that you know what they are saying.The best songs on this CD are Trailer Music and Arigato We Love You. Trailer Music is sort of an instrumental part (the beginning they just introduce the album in the background) and then it is a catchy tune that I keep on wishing that they would have made longer. And then Arigato We Love You is more of the pop/dance genre that has a catchy toon and is in English. The only low point is the 10 minute Porno 3003, which I skip over. The rest of the songs are all different and they all are really good too.This CD is the perfect thing to stick on a blue afternoon and then you can feel the smile run to your face....

excellent album. Pizzicato five are one of a kind band, and this album is definitely worth a listen
