Silverwing by Kenneth Oppel (1997-10-01) Hardcover

I really enjoyed this book. It's a great story and I think anyone who has read Watership Down by Richard Adams and liked it will enjoy this one too.

The narrator for this story is exceptional and our family enjoyed listening to the CDs on a 3 hour driving trip.

I liked this book sooooooo much! It is a great book for grades 4-6, but my mom read it and she liked it too. My brother in grade 8 read it and he liked it too. So really, everyone can enjoy it.The book Silverwing by Kenneth Oppel is the first in a four book series, followed by Sunwing, Firewing and Darkwing.It is a story about a bat named Shade who is a runt of his silverwing colony. Since Shade is a runt he is always trying to prove that he can do things himself. This gets him into all kinds of trouble. But he is not alone on his adventure. He meets a brightwing bat named Marina and together they are unstoppable.I gave it 4 out of 5 stars because overall it’s a great book but some things happen that usually don’t happen in real life and they are unbelievable, for example no one can get burned and still be alive! But mostly it’s just great and a really fun book to read because the author gives so much detail that it makes you feel like you are one of the bats flying alongside Shade on his adventure.By Lily (my niece)
