New DB Electrical SAB0029 Starter Compatible With/Replacement For Evinrude BE200CX 1996-1998, BE200TX 1996-1998, BE225CX 1996-1998, BE225PX 1996, BE225SL 1996-1998, BE225TX 1996-1998 690-024, 5723N

Bought this for a 2008 Etec 115. As others have mentioned, the lower bracket for this didn't quite line up with the 2 lower holes (not that far off and it may have actually worked, but I didn't bother to try using it). I used the bracket from the original starter on the new one and it fit perfectly. Very easy to replace. Cranked much stronger than the original. The original starter was cranking very slowly which is what prompted me to research the issues; and most said a new starter was necessary so I ordered this one as opposed to an OEM at $350. Happy so far with the purchase. I have taken the boat out multiple times and has worked perfectly.

I SPENT MORE MONEY BUYING THIS STARTER THINKING I WAS BUYING A BETTER PRODUCT {THERE ARE CHEAPER ONES ON HERE}. I WAS WRONG!!! THE FIRST STARTER DIDN'T WORK AT ALL. AND AGAINST MY BETTER JUDGMENT I ORDERED ANOTHER AS A REPLACEMENT. THE SECOND STARTER WAS NOT INDEXED PROPERLY SO AFTER FIXING THE INDEXING, I HAD TO GRIND THE BRACKET BECAUSE THE HARDWARE THEY USED FOR THE STARTER HAD THE BRACKET TOUCHING THE FUEL PUMP THAT WOULD CAUSE IT TO WARE A HOLE IN THE HARD LINE. THE QUALITY OF THE STARTER IS SUB PAR TO SAY THE LEAST. AFTER DOING ALL THIS IT FINALY DID WORK BUT ILL BE KEEPING MY OLD ONE ON THE BOAT AS A BACK UP

Third starter for my Evinrude 225 . Does not fit perfectly and had to bend bottom tang bracket to fit. Decided to see why my last one failed while in a bass tournament. Discovered the bendix shaft froze up in the top of the unit due to lack of lube. I kept the first starter and found the same problem with that one, so with this one I lubed the shaft and bushing with lithium grease before installing. Hope it will resolve this problem as I replaced this same starter in 2018 I now have a known good starter as a spare

Buyer beware! This starter became defective within 6 months of purchase with moderate use. Used for around 10 trips before it won't fully engaged the flywheel long enough to turn the motor over. Contacted the manufacturer and they won't honor the one-year warranty on their site since purchased through Amazon. Amazon was reluctant but issued a replacement and return at no charge to me. Do business with Amazon not with DB Electrical. DB Electrical has sub-quality parts with no regard for how their customer is treated.

Not a bolt on part for an Evinrude ETec 115 motor. Had to shim down the lower mount bracket which required use of bolts out of the old starter and some extra washers. Was NOT a happy camper trying to figure that out! If you’re not mechanically inclined, buy a different starter.

Like a previous reviewer said. Starter works great, but the holes don't line up perfectly. I think the reason is on the OEM starter there is one nut on each side of the bottom plate of the starter holding it together and also holding on the bottom bracket. On the new starter there is 2 nuts on each side which puts the bracket about 1/8" or the thickness of the nut off. Not much, but needs to be drilled out to fit holes on the block. If the starter lasts, I guess that's no big deal considering the price of an OEM.

i have a pair of 1995 200 johnson ocean runners. the starboard motor was hard to start and my old starter didnt seem to spin the motor over very fast. i purchased this starter and it fit perfect. spins much faster making the cold starts much better. for the price you cant go wrong. fast shipping seems like a quality starter so far. i will buy again no problem

The media could not be loaded.  The hard time to do it but what I did I took my bottom piece and change it to the new one and nothing cranking like a monster thank you so much I’m very satisfied

Seems like a decent product no issues in 3 months.
