Q: What’s the watt limit for this mppt

According to the rover 40 amp mppt controller mac input voltage is 100 vdc and the wattage input for 12 vdc out is 520 watts and 24 vdc out it is 1040 watts,. I personally have 400 watts input to mine and it operates just fine. Hope this helps

The controller that comes with unit just charges the batteries. I have been running a 3000 watt inverter parallel with my batteries with no problem. Just make sure you fuse properly for the solar control and the batteries. Good Luck.

Don't know what you mean by a 30a trailer. I have a 400 watt solar system (four 100 watt panels), and it uses the Rover 40 amp MPPT solar controller with a 300 ah battery bank. Works great.

Q: Do you need to use an inline fuse when setting up a solar system?

No, but I highly recommend it. For a 100 W single panel I recommend a 10 to 15 Amp inline fuse both going in to the regulator and going down to the battery. It is an inexpensive insurance for a worst case scenario. BTW. I'm an electronics engineer, BSEE. The 100 Watt panel should be able to charge an automotive (flooded) battery from 30 to 100 Amp hours. Note: most automotive batteries are between 30 to 60 Amp hours. I got an Interstate 40 Amp hour battery at Costco for around $80. Then add a 300 W sinus-wave power inverter. This charges all my cordless tools + a LED shop light in my shed. It will also charge our phones and laptops in a power outage.
