Sharp and easy
I just finished sharpening the knives in my knife drawer with the M130. Some of the older knives took a while to get a burr in step one but once the burr showed up even my older dull knives were sharp again. My every day knives sharpened in less than a minute. My best knives sharpened in a few seconds. The middle position is not motorized. It is a quality sharpening steel like you use by hand but this position keeps the knife near the optimal angle so the steel works optimally. You don't turn the motor on to use the middle position so you can walk over to the sharpener and put a quick hone on your knives without using any electricity. This is the big difference between this model and the Chef's Choice M120. For the extra $10, I prefer the sharpening steel over having a second grinding wheel. The third position is a "polishing" wheel which is similar in effect to the old barber shop razor strap which smoothed and polishing the knife edge.I like the 20 degree grind used by the Position 1 wheel and see no need for an additional wheel used to change the grind angle in the Trizor system used in the M120.I have a wide range of quality in my knives and this system seems to work well on all of them. I don't have serrated edge knifes since a well steeled knife works as well for me. I won't spend hours using an oil stone to sharpen knives any more. Also at 55 years old I don't see as well as I once did and can't hold a consistent angle using the stone. This system gives you a consistent sharpening angle.I sharpened 10 knives in less than 15 minutes with some them being quite dull. I thought about giving the M130 4 stars based on cost but it saved me so much time, the cost was worth it.UPDATE: I've been using the M130 for two years now. I use it daily (sharpening steel plus polishing wheel) on my best kitchen knives (Calphalon Katana Series) and they remain super sharp under constant use for about a month before I do a touch up with a single pass under the grinding wheel. I don't hand sharpen any of my knives now.

Chef's Choice Sharpener
I found that some knives were easy to sharpen while others didn't really get sharp. My chef's knife came out great. However, the smaller the knife, the more of a challenge it was to get it sharp. I was fearful that I would destroy some of my more expensive knives, so I did not try to sharpen them. Perhaps with more practice, I will not be so hesitant to tackle the higher quality knives. I practiced on old knives at first and some came out OK while others remained dull. I tried to sharpen a paring knife but that proved impossible because of the short blade. I do not regret my purchase for some results were quite good. I guess it was the inconsistency of the machine that proved somewhat disappointing.

Fantastic, Works Exactly As Advertized
I'll keep it short. This knife sharpener is fantastic. It works exactly as advertised, is easy to use, and won't hurt your eardrums. It's a little large, so if you have a small kitchen you'll probably want to keep it in a closet or cabinet (but how often do you need to sharpen you knives anyway?). Other than that it is fantastic, and really does quickly and easily put a razor sharp edge on your knives. I even sharpened some of my old, cheap knives I was planning on tossing and it saved them for me!The only negative (and the reason it was 4 stars and not 5) is that it is a bit on the expensive side! I might seriously consider the M110 and save a bit of money (I didn't think the M120 saved you enough to bother)... But, you often get what you pay for, and I couldn't be happier!

Overall not impressed
The sharpener seems to work well on kitchen knives but one of the reasons I bought it was the claim that it also works on pocket and "sports" knives. It did a miserable job on several pocket knives I own. I swear they were sharper before running them through this.

My 30 year old Chef's brand knife sharpener works better than this one
Can't get a Sabatier stainless steel knife set sharpened with this product. The instructions say only a few swipes are needed, but I doubled the number and still can't get the knives sharp. My 30 year old Chef's brand knife sharpener works better than this one. I purchased this model because it had the ability to also sharpen serrated knives. I did not find that feature to work. Trying to sharpen one more time. If it doesn't work I am returning the product.

Works Great for me!
Look guys, I honestly almost didn't buy this after reading so many bad reviews. Thankfully I did because it is pretty easy to use and does its job perfectly. I opened the box and read the instructions. After getting that completed I plugged it in and grabbed one of my many dull knives and decided to give it a test. I ran the knife 20 times (10 on each side) through set 1 and felt a bur so moved on to step 2, 10 times (5 on each side) and decided to use step 3 as per the instructions pretty fast to just polish the micro serrations (2 second pull) and used a piece of paper to test. I can say that before the knife only kinda sliced the paper on the back part the front of the knife was dead. After using the knife sharpener the blade is super sharp. It sliced the paper using the tip, middle, back, and does better when slicing veggies and meat.I heard one complaint because station 2 is not motorized, but I honestly don't know why you would want it to be? Only station 1 and 3 move when turned on. I bought some "Expensive to me" knives that I only use station 2 for before I slice meat. They all came sharp from the factory but after I cut my meat and hand wash the knife I run it 4 (2 on each side) through station 2, wipe down and place back on my magnetic knife holder and I haven't had a dull knife in a while.Oh before I end this I want to talk about scratching. I read reviews about this machine leaving scratches on your knife afterward. I did experience this when I used this for the 1st time. BUT........ I grabbed another cheap dull knife and did a test. What I learned is that if you don't maintain the 20* all the way across the knife while pulling it out, or you are applying too much downward pressure it will scratch the sides. I ran another knife though it trying my hardest not to move it off the 20* angle guide and it didn't scratch for all 3 stations. So if you experience scratching try to maintain that angle from heal to tip and don't push down so hard on the knife.

No More Dull Knives
This product is excellent. I purchased this product based on very high reviews by various kitchen gadget reviews. As described in the reviews, the sharpener is easy to use and knives are quickly sharpened.
