DK Eyewitness Top 10 Maui, Molokai and Lanai (Pocket Travel Guide)

I use the DK guides as my main source of travel guides. Even the small Top 10 guides consolidate so much information I find them to be much more useful than many full size guides. As with this guide it had a pull out map and an overall map of the island on the inside cover. It broke down each area of the island and the top 10s in many categories, beaches, shopping, attractions, restaurants, accomodations, etc. I was again, not disappointed with this very slim volume that helped us navigate our first trip to Maui. We circumnavigated the island, staying 3 days in Hana and rounding out our stay with 4 days in Kihei as a jump off point to other adventures. This guide is beautiful. Lots of full color pictures and for those of us that need visual, this is the guide for you. It gives you plenty of sites you would expect and some that you didn't know about but wanted to visit. I never hesitate to buy these guys and have been purchasing them for our various travels over the last 15 years or so. They are spot on and always put out a great product. I used this in conjuction with another book called Maui mile by mile which I bought used, and felt fully prepared for our travels.

I have several of these for cities all over the world. These are SO HANDY with great information and they can fit in a pocket. I like having suggestions if I have a very short time in any given place and these guides do an excellent job. For the price you will not find better guides for making sure you do not miss the 'must see' attractions

I borrowed this from the library, along with a stack of other Maui books, and found myself using just this. I love the layout of top 10 hotel/beaches/shopping/scenic spots/etc for each area of Maui. I REALLY like how each 'top 10' section is a double page layout - in other words, short and sweet and easy to see all under each topic quickly. We're going next week and I expect to keep this practically in hand, as we're doing a semi flexible-schedule trip.Others going on the same trip also got this book after seeing my library copy.

WE do not travel without the Top 10 Guides...Used the guide in Argentina (Buenos Aires) for sightseeing, restaurants, etc. and in a few short days felt that we had a working knowledge of the Best of the Best that BA had to offer... have reviewed the guide prior to our adventure in Maui, and found that our extensive alternate research had yielded essentially the same recommendations, but with a lot more time involved ... call them the COSTCO of guide books...quality, and selection all in one location

Buy this book to fill in details or offer additional suggestions. But base your reading on the better guidebook: Maui Revealed. We used three guidebooks on our trip. Also Lonely Planet Maui. Having all three may be worth it.

Needs to add more places to eat and things to do or see, but overall it was a pretty good book. I would suggest just getting the touristy stuff out of the way and just relax.

An invaluable little pocket guide for the island of Maui and beyond. The 'top ten' feature is a very clever one and helps you navigate the various sections of the island. The east side is more populated and more touristy while upcountry and the western part is desolate, to say the least. The road to Hana is an experience not to be missed.

dk always makes good books. has map and highlights all the top stops. i buy one every city i go to.

This guide is less intense than others, and focuses you on the highlights per region so that you feel satisfied having visited such area.

Quite good if you are looking for basic information only and have only a few days to spend on the island
