Used properly, like ANY tool, this is a GREAT die.
Once set up this die works perfectly. A couple of things to note. Go ahead and buy 1 pack of RCBS 90164 Headed Decapping Pins 5Pk because chances are you will break your first pin. No big deal. Not the manufacturers fault, its the operators. Here's why I broke mine - I didn't tighten everything down so that the in holder was stable.I use the RCBS Partner press top decap / deprime my brass. Run the die down so that the opening of the die is flush with the inside of the press. LOCK it down with the large jam nut. Not too tight. Just snug. Run the pin holder down until it comes even with the base of the shell holder. Then go a couple more rounds so that is protrudes a little further and ensures the primer is out. LOCK it down with the small nut (7/16" wrench...again, just snug it.Run some brass through it, slowly, getting a feel for it. After about 200 rounds I was depriming roughly 50 rounds in 4 minutes - with my first cup of coffee.Others mention that the pin is spring loaded and wonder why? RCBS did that because of several factors. 1) the shell holders hold different calibers of brass and as such they don't automatically center in the holder - there is still a little slack. 2) Exploded primers don't have the same identical shape - they are all just a little different. Even the same brand/lot is a little different. So what happens is that the pin makes contact with the imperfect inside of the primer and as you press the brass the pin does two things - it aligns the casing center of the primer AND it aligns itself with the center of the primer. This is all on an extremely small scale. It then pops the primer out. Perfectly.By the way, in the review with the presses people gripe about the spring "ejecting primers" that fly all over the place. Let me tell you this spring doesn't have the power to do that. At all. The flying primers are simply due to being popped out of the primer pocket and the configuration of the primer recovery system in some presses.Used properly, like ANY tool, this is a great die.

No more hanging chads
One of the most frustrating parts of depriming is when the primer gets punched by the pin, but is still hanging on so everything comes to a grinding halt. Just buy this decapping die (comes with the spring loaded depriming pin and the die body) and you'll save a lot of time and frustration. The spring loaded pin forcefully ejects the spent primer and you can hear it literally popping out of the primer pocket into the spent primer catcher. When setting up this die, there's a sweet spot when the pin compresses the spring and then the primer pops out. If you set up the die with the pin sticking out too far, you won't get the full benefit of the spring pushing the primer out.

Don't hesitate! BUY IT!!
I have a progressive press, but have found that decapping and priming require a bit more care than the press encourages. One cannot simply close one's eyes, trust the press and have not problems. Hence, I wanted to do the decapping separately. Not only does this more quickly and easily remove the cap, it also allows me to clean the primer pocket and thus provides a more consistent seating of the individual primers.I have several pieces of RCBS equipment, and read through all the reviews carefully. The RCBS die here has the fewest negative reviews. Some do complain, but after having used it now myself, I can honestly say I had no issues at all. Yes, I am glad that I bought some spare tips, because I guess I'm a boy scout and like to be prepared, but I certainly did not break tips right out of the gate (or at all, so far) as some have reported. So much better and more trouble free than the usual combined decapping and sizing die. This is a really awesome piece of equipment at a very reasonable price. Everyone who reloads at home should consider this a must have! Great product, by a great company!

Does the job efficiently and lets me get on with tumbling cases
With this die, I quickly and efficiently decap dirty cases before cleaning them so that their primer pockets get cleaned too. I like to use it in my Lee Hand Press to decap while watching TV.The pin could possibly be improved, it seems to bend just a little too easily and yet is still slightly thicker than I'd like it to be for small primer holes. Replacement pins are readily available and cheap and I bought a pack along with this, but I haven't yet needed to use one.Occasionally the inside of the die body grips a case, pulling as you try to pull it back. This doesn't happen often.

Excellent tool.
Look, using the decapping and resizing die combo works. Until you want to decap then tumble your brass. The issue with that is now you have to spend time to clean out the primer pocket on the brass that you just finished tumbled. Get yourself this tool, decap then tumble and you just saved a bunch of time. Just remember to set the rod to the right length and tighten the locking nuts on it or you will mess up the pin. Also, since the pin itself has a spring on it, once the spent primer is pushed out far enough it will literally shoot out the bottom of the brass and go flying after ricocheting off the bottom of the press. It was worth the purchase and since it can handle all of the calibers that I currently reload, it has saved me a ton of time. If this review was helpful, go ahead and click that button.

Heavy duty
This de capper will punch out surplus m2 ball primers, these primers are crimped in place and usually bend the standard de caping pins, comes in a green box and fits in a 30.06 full length resizer. The pin is spring loaded so the primers shoot out and fly everywhere. As usual with RCBS great product would buy again.

Punch out!
Works great as long as you dont get a berdan primed case mixed in. I broke the tip doing that so I would order some replacements and be sure to check your cases. I have one of these for rifle also and it even punches out crimped primers without any trouble. Die is easy to set and replace the tip if needed. Some people just use the die in the reloading kit but I like to tumble my brass without primers to keep the pockets clean so I bought this as to not put undue wear on my other dies. Fits standard press size of multiple makers.

Works well.
Does the job perfectly. Other posters complain that the primers fly across the room; it does kick them out with authority for sure. My solution is a large clear recycling bag. Make a vertical slit in the bag 1/3 from the top, position the bag around the press. My bag is large enough for the press handle to operate inside. Use the slit to load and unload cases and all your primers are neatly caught in the bag.
